I didn't look back, I literally couldn't, that doesn't mean I tried. I wanted to turn back. Give up. Beg them to come with me. Give me for specific instructions for crying out loud. Don't leave me alone. I had no idea what i was expected to do.
(Not that I ever did).
But still.
I kept crawling for who knows how long, especially with everything i had to hold onto.
(I'm talking both emotionally and physically)
I just let the turtle walk ahead of me after a while, it was just as fast as my own pace anyways.
There seemed to be no end in sight, how much longer could i do this.
Was i even getting anywhere. I had absolutely no sense of time.
A sigh.I finally reached another corner. but this one went straight up.
Hmm.
Well.I hope there was a room somewhere in front of me.
Screws, thumbdrive all secured. I placed henry on my shoulder.
"Hold on." I mumbled, struggling to stand up after crawling so long I grabbed the grate, jumping as far up as could and jamming it into the wall, grasping it tightly. To the point my fingers pinched and hurt, but it opened and I poked my head out."Well I'm glad that worked."
But I still didn't completely enter the room, it didn't feel safe. And sure enough, a giant black portally thing (I think) opened up dumping everyone from where that portal led into the room.
I inches closer, then gasped.
They weren't human, they were were wildly different creatures, a little girl with fangs and bat wings sprouting from her back and another young buy, with bunny ears his nose twitching, even unconcious. This was what happened to us. I recognized.
I peered up, and the portal closed with a- wrrrrrhrrp- sound. I looked at the everyone else, they would be unconcious for a little while. All was once again quiet and still. I yawned, I could use a little shut eye myself. I crawled into the room part ways turning ng the grate side ways so i could be part way. Hopefully I'd wake up if anything happened.
I shifted, trying to situate myself. This certainly wasn't comfy. But I was too tired to care. I place the turtle beside me, he'd probably be fine.
"Goodnight henry."
Line break"Good morning or something henry."
I looked to my side.
Oh wait nope he be gone.Aaaaaaaaaaah!!!!
This was not good. I looked around frantically all the were creature were barely awaking, but I didn't have time to decide whether this was good or bad thing. I scrambled out.Oh my gosh where could that turtle be. How could he get out of this room anyhow?!??
I looked to where I knew would probably be the direction of the hallway area.
"I hope this works." I said already picking up the grate. I shoved, but this time not just into the wall, but through it. It formed a grate but this it was like a doggy door. I looked back to the cute toddler were wolf,
"No offense." I added. Not that he could hear me, as the all inhabitant were too busy freaking out about old news for me. I dove forward. No time for hesitation.
But once was I was out where should I go. I realized.
Where was the lost and found that I remembered passing by.
Grate in my hand I ran through the halls somehow arriving at the end of hall from before when we (my former-no my classmates) entered that assembly room, it was all the objects.
I spun on my heels taking off. I got there quick, but forgot about the glass barrier, no door here either. Well glass was still glass. I winced preparing for the backlash of punching it.
Oh wait.
The grate was still in my hands. I pressed it in the glass. Nothing happened. I guess it's just glass.
I steeled myself for another punch. Oh wait.
I ditched the fist and tossed the grate at the window. It shattered almost effortlessly. I stepped back to admire before tensing.
Henry!
I had to get to him fast. I frantically searched all around.
There.
By the left corner next to a teal jacket. I started to pick him up and just in time too. The balck globs grabbed him. I tugged. Harder.
But sooner or later they were either going to get me or Henry. I couldn't let them touch me, from what I'd seem with Brandon. I grabbed the jacket, one of the few items that hadn't been swallowed yet. I used that to wrestle the turtle without touching the black glob. It was working.
The balck glob was trying to get to me, (and henry) but I could make it before they got to me.
They surged harder. I struggled. It was getting close, but henry was nearly loosed. And it tugged away, but not before the smallest black tendril latched itself onto my hand..
.
.All at once I could feel it.
The nothing. There was no way to even fight it. I was slowly succumbing the darkness. Nothing mattered. It was always going to be this, prolonging the invetable was hoppeless. Everything was hopeless, it--
bzzt!
But it wasn't, was it?
Something reisted. Not me, but it certainly helped me try. I shook my self out of it. Pulling back immediately. I looked to my elbow and then at my hand where I could feel a strange tingling fighting off-- I shuddered-- whatever that was. More specifically Somehow the thumbdrive and Henry had stopped it. I smiled. A sad but still happy smile. A bittersweet smile. A my-whole-world-kind-of-falling-apart-right-now-but-at-least-this-one-good-thing-happened smile.
But what I didn't see while I was looking only toward her left hand and elbow was the slowly growing sheen of black on her other hand where the midnight darkness had touched. And what I didn't hear were slowly approaching footsteps of the sinister leaders of this place.
