Chapter 6: The Date

I was internally freaking once I reached my apartment. Luke was currently on the living room floor watching and here I am being indecisive about what to wear tonight. I had two dresses draped on the dining room table, both very nice but of course my brain can't choose. I sighed a frustrated sigh and pulled out my phone, deciding to just call Lori.

"Hello?" I heard her voice throught the reciever.

"Lori? 911. Emergency please help." I ran my free hand through my already tangled hair.

"Oh my god what happened who died? Whats wrong what-" She panicked.

"Lori no! I just can't figure out what to wear tonight! I don't know if he'll want me to be classy or-"

"Woah woah woah. Hold on and back that shit up. What did you just say? YOU have a DATE??" I sighed again.

   "Lori~!" I whined.

"Okay okay hold on. I'm actually heading to my car so i'll just meet you over there. DO NOT MOVE! You have a lot of explaining to do." I rolled my eyes, smoothing out the dresses on the table.

"Can that wait until after my date? I have to leave in two hours." I heard her scoff.

"Fine. But I wanna hear everything right when he drops you off back over here. I wanna see the guy that managed to grab you." I laughed, hearing her car engine start from her end of the call.

"Alright, see you in a bit." I hung up and thanked the lord above that Lori only lived 10 minutes away. I watched Luke on the floor and smiled when he started babbling along to the songs on T.V. Sure enough, around 10 minutes later my doorbell rang and I opened it to see Lori breathing heavily, her blonde hair put up in a pony tail.

"Lemme see Luke!" Luke's head turned when he heard her voice and gurgled happily, babbling 'Lor' over and over again. "Hey baby! How's my favorite lil man?" He giggled under the attention and started gently bapping her face when she picked him up.

"Lor? As much as I love seeing you playing with my son, I seriously need your help right now." Lori rolled her eyes and bounced Luke, glancing at the table.

"The red one. So, who's the lucky guy?"

"He may or may not be my boss..." I mutter, quickly grabbing the red short cut dress and going to my room. Lori's face was priceless as she followed me.

"Oh my god are you serious? You're banging the Boss?!" She whisper-yelled.

"Lori! Little ears!" I scolded, she responded by rolling her eyes. "And it's not like that. He is actually a pretty nice guy and he just asked me to dinner. We are most certainly not doing...that." She narrowed her eyes.

"Suuurree...anyways, I wanna meet him when he picks you up. You know what will happen if I dont get to." I shuddered as I remembered an old highschool memory of Lori and one of my very few ex-boyfriends. I nodded, not wanting a repeat of that night.

"Sure thing, and hey, thanks for agreeing to babysit." She shook her head and smiled at Luke in her arms.

"It's not a problem, you know I love hanging out with this guy. We'll be in the living room while you shower, and you might want to hurry up because you now only have an hour left." I quickly looked up to my clock and cursed not-so-silently.
