AN: helllooooo!!! Sorry for the long wait. Been a little stuck on how to continue the plot since I'm trying to make this a short story. Hopefully under 10 chapters, if not 15. ALSO!!!! As a character picture, Raphael in my mind will be Tyler Hoechlin..as cast. Google him if you want, just to know what he looks like now ;). Alright, enough of my babbling..enjoy this new chapter!

Chapter 5: A Question

A few days have past and it has been a struggle trying to get used to actual office work, while balancing taking care of Luke. Thankfully (and fairly shockingly), Raphael has been the one who truly gave a helping hand and was very patient with both me and Luke. I might admit, during the beginning of my working career with him, I kind of shared the same belief my grandmother had of Raphael. The whole 'too cool for Little kids' or 'what is love? That is a foreign word to my ears'. After a couple of weeks of being around him, I understood that those public rumors weren't him at all. If anything, he just hides under all of that..as a mask. To hide what? I'm not sure yet.

The moment I stepped into the main big house though, has been an experience for both Luke and I. Right when we stepped in we were greeted with many different looking people who we then recognized as Raphael's 'minions' so to speak. At first I was truly scared for the well-being of my baby Luke, but after spending more and more time at that house I realized that all of them cared for Luke the same way Raphael had. And that really made my heart swell, that Luke's family was finally growing and that he had so many people looking out for him.

"Are you alright Mara?" I blinked, realizing that Raphael had started talking to me.

   "Huh?"

"You were spacing out a little there. I was worried that you could suddenly sleep with your eyes opened." I chuckled a bit and shook my head, putting my head back down to my papers and picking up my pen. Suddenly Raphael was in front of my desk, leaning against it a little as he was watching Luke play.

"What's on your mind Mara?" He asked. I quickly raised my head up.

'What do you mean? I'm totally fine.' Was what I wanted to say. But instead I actually said what I was thinking.

"Nothing big really...I was just thinking of how much Luke's family has grown..and how I'm really grateful for that. It's like you accepted us into you personal life with open arms it just amazes me..sorry I must be babbling your ear off..i'll stop now." I suddenly felt very stupid and I put my head down.

"Hey Mara...hey look at me.." I hesitantly did and a blush quickly filled my face. He was smiling at me...smiling. Not the kind of laughing snicker, but a loving smile... a fond one. My blush grew darker. "I'm not one to actually talk about personal stuff...so I'll just do this one at a time." It seemed like he was saying that part mostly to himself, he blushed lightly..which was super adorable.

"Would you like to go to dinner with me tonight?" He asked and my eyes widened. My blush now permanently etched onto my face. I felt like my answer was indeed very stupid.

"Uhm..sure..I mean, as a date? Is this considered a date?-it doesn't have to be if you don't want it to be but-" I quickly stopped myself as I heard him chuckle, and I buried my face in my hands. After a moment I heard his beautiful deep voice.

"Yes as a date..if you don't mind." I quickly regained my posture, blush still apparent on my face and nodded. "If no one is able to watch Luke, I know someone at the House would love to watch over him." I gave him a warm smile.

"I would love that, thank you." I had a feeling that tonight would be a great night.
