Hailey wakes up the next mooring, her mother carol has already washed and is dressed for work. The kettle is already on the stove
Hurry up,Hailey, or I'll be late for the taxi,"carol says,busy making lunch for Hailey to take to school. Their breakfast sandwiches are already done.
Hailey hates moorings because they tear her away from her dreams in which all sorts of wonderful things happen: sometimes she's a fairy or she has magical powers or she plays tik tac toe with her best friend Sadie, she slowly slides out of bed and go take her bath quickly, then sparingly squeezes a small blob of blue toothpaste on her toothbrush.
Carol cut her jelly sandwiches for school into small triangle and wrapped them neatly in a plastic bag then placed in a small brown bag,Hailey quickly iron her uniform and hurry down and join her mother to eat brake fast like any school day today Hailey decides to to take tea today instead of her usual milk she drinks
Hailey be careful not to spill anything on yourself or on the floor
Did you sleep well,her mother ask her? " her mother ask her." You were tossing and turning around through the night
"I had this strange dream," Hailey begin she still feels unsettled about it
"What happened? "
This woman with out a face was chasing me
"What do you woman - this woman without a face."
"I mean just that,Mama. He was like a ghost
Carol stop chewing."Go on,," she urges
The woman kept asking me for the stone. in the end I gave her the bucket of stone I had thinking that's what she wanted
It's that all,carol asked, Hailey closes her eyes trying to remember more."Oh yes, Nathan was there

Yes, Hailey sit nervously looking at her mother as she glance around
"It was only a dream, " carol said
But it felt more than just a dream
"Forget about it", go get your sister before you two will be late for school

Hailey and Bailey gathers her school bag and they both take their box from their mother, they all leave together, Hailey bag slung over her shoulder while Bailey just holds it with her hand and their mother carry her bag.
It is windy outside. scarps of paper are flying about, dust and smog choke the air. Hailey sneezes. Its a 10min walk from were their mother take taxi to work. sometimes they escort their mother before going to school. they turn into the main town road, they run into Nathan. He is wearing a suit and a tie very unusual for him his face was clean he didn't look like the drunken ranting man of yesterday
" Good mooring Shirley", he greeted cheerfully
Good mooring Nathan Cuthbert",carol said doing her best not to gaze at him
"Nathan winks at Hailey and Bailey. They both smile shyly. Isn't it a lovely mooring?"
Hailey keeps quiet hoping Nathan can't remember her and the neighbour talking last night
"These are strange days indeed," Nathan remarks
"What do you mean"
Hailey can hear from the conversation isn't keen with keeping this discussion for long
"Another child has disappeared." Bailey gasp but Hailey quickly covers her mouth so they won't know they are listening in
"Oh I didn't know that ",carol replies,suddenly more interested
Yes Anne, Samantha girl. The bookish one. Early this mooring her parent sent her to buy bread
Carol shakes her head. "That's terrible."
"That's the seventh child in the last 2 month, Nathan says.

"I knew your father, Nathan says
My father. Really? What was be like, how did he look Bailey ask
"He was a man with special powers-"
*Nice talking to you, carol quickly says giving both Hailey and Bailey a stern look".
"Sooner or later they both are gonna find out and when they do well let's just wait till then"

Mother he was just telling us about father, Hailey says
Yes mother no need to be rude,Bailey added
What did he mean by we will find out,Hailey said
Find out about what mother,bailey ask
Both of you should shut up and never speak of this you hear me,she warns

Hailey, carol calls out

Finally they reach the bus stop and both Bailey and Hailey wish their mother goodbye and left
Bailey I will see you in school have to get some ivory for miss Cecilia,Hailey tell Bailey

Well your right but be careful

"OK see you then",Bailey says and leaves while Hailey went on her quest to find Nathan one way or another after 1hr of searching she finally found him

"Hailey, aren't you suppose to be in school?, Nathan ask her
Well yes but you need to tell me all you know about my father

You said you know him and well my mom doesn't want to speak about him and I can't remember him
Why should I help you, I can remember yesterday vividly

Yes you and those pesky neighbour insulting me

Alright, "come back here this afternoon after school".
"Really?.oh, thank you,Nathan!" Then she remembers. But I don't know were you leave.
You know the blue tank next to the bakery

Turn left and count seven houses then you have found my house

"Now off you go to school",
Thanks Nathan again, she says as she hugs him and hurry off to school not forgetting the ivory she said she will get
