Chapter Fifteen: Day one is done

AN: I'm so sorry if I don't get this chapter up in time tomorrow. Hopefully I will but no guarantees :)

Dawn POV
"Let's all just go get some lunch to celebrate today's hard work from you guys" Ash announced. Everyone actually agreed with Ash for once that we should go out and eat.

Everyone grabbed their belongings and we set out to find a restaurant. We settled on a small asian restaurant and it was very nice. It was a really yummy lunch of a variety of different foods.

After eating everyone wanted to head back to the Pokémon Centre to relax for the afternoon. I decided to go sit on the same beach from yesterday for some peace and quiet.

I was also planning on thinking of battle strategies for tomorrow's battle with May's champion childhood friend. My question was why was he partnering up with the lowly Brianna for contests.

I sat on the beach letting the small waves gently get my toes wet as they lapped the shore. There was a nice ocean breeze and there wasn't anyone here at the moment.

I started to close my eyes and lay back in the sand to think about tomorrow. Think I told my self, what is their weakness or weak points. I was watching their battle today but the only thing I got was Brianna was holding him back quite a lot.

BINGO! Brendan only needed Brianna to get through the appeals round and after that he would be perfectly capable of beating everyone in the second round. Well played Brendan I thought to myself.

Now how were Leaf and I supposed to beat him after he's beaten 4 champions in different regions. What were his weaknesses? Did he even have any?

So many questions ran through my mind as a laid down in the soft sand. "You looked stressed" I opened one eye and I saw Paul sitting beside me.

"What do you think?" I asked him. He just rolled his eyes and replied "Yeah I guess" I closed my eye again and said "I'm worried about Brendan tomorrow" He laughed and replied "You shouldn't, he couldn't pull off a decent combo even if he tried"

"What if he knocks us out" I shot back. "Take as many points away from him" Paul stated. "I'm still not convinced" I replied. "You once told me that you can loose points if the other team dodges" He told me. "What if we can't dodge?" I asked. "Then do your best and we'll see what happens" He replied.

"Thanks that was actually really helpful" I told Paul. "I know" He replied. I knew he was just smirking at me even with my eyes closed I could tell.

"You know, you're a lot better when you actually interact with people" I told him. "Well it's not easy for me, unlike you. It's harder then it looks" He replied. "I know" I replied.

I sat back up and opened my eyes. I just stared at the ocean for a while not really thinking about anything. "Do you think Leaf and I will win tomorrow" I asked. "You have a chance" Paul said.

I smiled and looked at him for a moment then glanced away again. He wasn't wearing his usual clothing now, he was actually wearing cargo shorts and a dark grey t-shirt to go along. He looked better not so cold or bunched up.

I blushed after I looked away from him and I was also trying to figure out my feelings. Somehow I had fallen in love with this ice cube who was also one of my best friends. For some reason he mainly opened up to me besides the boys.

Why him out of all people? I had no idea what attracted me to him but something about him was attractive. At first I kept bugging him because I wanted him to lighten up but I ended up falling for him.

My feelings were all over the place and I wondered if he felt the same way about me. I shook the thought out of my head because that was impossible. I looked back up at him and he was staring at me too.

He looked away at the ocean a split second after a looked at him and I sighed. Why couldn't things be different between us? Well I didn't really want to ruin our friendship either.

"We should probably go back to the Pokémon Centre" I told him. We stood up and I could only take one step before someone grabbed onto my wrist.

I turned around and someone's lips crashed against mine. I was so shocked and surprised that Paul would do such a thing. The kiss was actually enjoyable and I kissed him back.

This had to be the best moment of my life(besides winning the grand festival) Once we broke apart I smiled and he was blushing. "I love you too" Was all I could say. "Then you better be my girlfriend" He replied.

I nodded and we held hands all the way back to the Pokémon Centre.

TIME SKIP ISH(POV change)

May's POV
"They're so cute!" I exclaimed to Drew. Dawn and Paul had no idea that Drew and I followed them to the beach. Actually more like I wanted to go and I forcefully dragged Drew along. I also took a lot of pictures of them together.

"Yeah, whatever" Drew replied. "You should be happy for them! We all knew this was going to happen one day!" I exclaimed. He rolled his eyes at me.

We returned to our own rooms shortly after the lovey dovey couple did. I slipped the key card in and opened the door. "LEAF GUESS WHAT!" I yelled.

"WHAT?!" She exclaimed. "DAWN AND PAUL GOT TOGETHER!!!" I yelled. "OMGG!!!" Leaf yelled. We jumped up and down cheering in excitement.

"THEIR THE PERFECT COUPLE!" Leaf exclaimed. "I KNOW RIGHT? PERFECT EXAMPLES OF OPPOSITES ATTRACT!" I squealed. We both were so happy for Dawn and Paul.

"Oh yeah and Paul helped her figure out a strategy for tomorrow's battle. You should text her and find out" I explained. "Okay thanks!" Leaf replied.

She took her pokénav out and started to text Dawn for the strategy for tomorrow. I sighed and stared out the window wondering if I would ever find a perfect match like them.

"Wait what's happening between you and Gary?!" I asked. "Honestly I don't know" Leaf replied sadly. "We've been so close to kissing twice yet something or someone comes and ruins the moment" Leaf added.

"Must be frustrating" I muttered. She nodded and replied "What about you and Hayden?" My eyes widened "There's nothing going on! He's just my rival and best friend" I exclaimed.

"Clearly there's a spark there" Leaf announced. I rolled my eyes at that comment and she said "Or what about Brendan?" I haven't actually thought about him in a while.

"Old crush but it's died years ago" I told Leaf. "The spark could re-kindle" Leaf replied. I shrugged and replied "I don't think so?¿"
