Harry and I walk down the street. I had managed to make him believe that the reason I went into the pawn shop was to talk about a antique penny. He wanted me to prove that I had it. I told him that I forgot where I had it last, but I was just asking.
"Well, if it's an antique, then shouldn't it be worth something?" Harry asked, dodging a pole.
"If its money, something they make everyday, then it is worth nothing!" I say, throwing my hands in the air.
"Just saying." Harry shrugs.
As we walked, Agent Jay pulled up in his car. I stopped, grabbing onto Harry's shoulder to make him stop. Jay rolled down his window. "Can I borrow her for a minute?" He asked pointing at me.
"Why?" Harry asked, crossing his arms.
"Bozzo." I poke Harry in the side as I walk around the back of the black vehicle. I open the passenger side door, sitting down, and buckling up. I wave Harry goodbye. He had a grim look on his face. He probably thought I was leaving and forgetting him for Jay.
As we drove away, I look over at Jay. "Taking me back to MIB?"
"Yeah. Why?" He glanced over at me, then back to the road.
"Just wonderin'." I look forward. "Um... I don't know if you know this, you probably do, with you dealing with aliens and all, but, last night, I threw a knife at Jeebs, and his head popped like a balloon and grew back." My nose scrunches up at the thought of that.
Jay laughs softly. "Oh yeah, we know about Jeebs. And yeah, he's an alien" He turns a corner.
"Well, since we're on the subject of Jeebs-"
"That you started." Jay adds.
"I asked him about Men In Black, and he said something rather interesting."
"Like what?" Jay smiled.
"That... Me and Agent K look... similar... and I was just wondering... if you thought we did." I look over at Jay, awaiting an answer.
His smile turned into a vacant expression. "Um... Do you want the truth or the lie?" He asks, taking a long breath in.
"The truth will be good, please..." I look down at my hands.
"You two do look alike. But that's probably a coincedence." Jay stated, shrugging.
I look back at him. "That's what I thought."
"You probably should ask him yourself. He probably would know for sure." He reasurred me.
I honestly know that my mother said that if my father wanted to find out about me, he would. I didn't know what she meant about that. Did he know what was going on back at home? If he was part of the military and the government, he couldn't have the time to check on us 24/7.
He parked the car, and we did the same as yesterday; walked inside the giant stone building, stepped into the elevator, and went down to the main floor. I don't even remember walking up to the office where they asked me my name.
"Kayla?" The man who I yet know the name to asked.
I looked up. "What?" I noticed that I was in the room alone with him. "What'd you say? I wasn't paying attention." I crossed my arms in the back, and look down at my feet. I glance back up to him. "Sir." Good job. Now your acting nice. You barely know this guy, and your calling him sir. Everyone is weird here. Okay, maybe the aliens are a little cool... I thought.
He looked at me for a minute. "Have you told anything to your friend?" He asked seriously.
I shook my head. "No, sir. Jay made a whole backstory for himself when we saw him at a diner last night, with a little help from me." I retort.
"And what would that be?"
I thought back to yesterday. "His name is Jason Caine from Arkansas, and he's an astronomer. He has a little brother named... Kyle, and he's fifteen. I told Harry that met three weeks prior to seeing him."
"Hm.." Turned slightly away from me. He looked like he was thinking.
A pug breed dog walked into the office, laying mail onto a chair. He turned to the agent. "Here's your mail Zed. Oh, who's the beauty?" The pug asked, looking at me.
"Thank you, Frank." Zed broadcasted.
"Kayla... And your... Frank?..." I asked, uncrossing my arms and turning to the dog.
"Yeap, toots." Frank answered.
"Are you an alien?" I scrunch up my nose once more.
"Depends on who's asking."
"Thank you, Frank." Zed hurried Frank out. Frank turned around, walking out with his tail wagging.
"I don't know whether to say count me in, I'll work here, or erase my memory." I joke, turning back around.
I come out of the locker room, dressed in a MIB official suit; a black tuxedo jacket, a white shirt underneath that, a black long tie, and a black pair of pants and shoes. I asked for pants because honestly, a skirt would be uncomfortable in fighting, and would probably show more than asked. They had destroyed my fingerprints with a machine; when I placed my hands on the round machine, it incinerated the prints right off my fingers. They had a hair rubber band for me to put my hair back. I had it in a pony tail with my bangs out a little, making me look more like a agent instead of a lawyer with slicked back hair. Okay, maybe an agent has slicked back hair too, but I can't stand not having bangs.
I pat my jacket down as it was puffing out a little. "Welcome to the team, Agent Kay." A agent congratulated me as he walked by. Why not Agent KB or Agent E or B? There's already a K. That'd be weird having two K's.
"Thanks." I nod. I looked around the room. I saw Jay over with what looked like worm guys that are about mid thigh height.
I walk over to him. When I get to him, the worm guys leave. "Hey, how do I look?" I raise my arms off my side, spinning around slowly.
Jay turns around. "I don't know who looks better: me or you." He jokes.
I stop spinning, popping my collar. "I do, obviously." I joke back. "So, what else have they done to my 'uniqueness' besides fry my finger prints off?" I ask, holding my hands up, and wiggling my fingers.
"They deleted all your paperwork like birth certificate, social security papers, blah-de-blah." He explains.
"Will anyone remember me?" I poke out.
"No." Jay shakes his head.
"Another question: do they just pick out your agent names? Cause this one guy just called me Agent Kay, and there's that other one. I personally like Agent-"
Alarms started to go off. "Kay! Jay! Here now!" Zed said from the front of the room.
Jay and I ran towards the front. The front had a giant television screen with two tan, octopus-like aliens with one eye sticking out in the middle working the panel in front of them. As me and Jay stopped, Kay joined us. "Better leave this to the professionals." Kay stated more towards me than the others.
"At least I'm young." I spat back at him.
"Guys, can we stay on the situation, please?" Jay puts himself between me and Kay.
