" we were told you were one of the kids holding up signs and shouting. if you did that as an adult you would be in jail." my mother said angrily practically shouting. " mom, dad im sor-" "we don't want to hear it. You're grounded for the next month. No phone, going out, ot any of that." my dad yelled. " yes sir." i said with tears in my eyes. I ran up stairs and curled up in my bed. " why do my parents think the government is right!" i thought to myself. " why can't people just be who they want freely or be able to roam the streets safely without getting tackled and sent away by police because of their skin. or practice the religion they want without being sent to jail." those questions were the only thing i had on my mind all night.
after my parents went to bed i snuck down stairs and grabbed my phone. I texted lynn about what just happened. She understood and the plans for saturday were canceled. Apparently lynn didn't get in trouble because here parents hated the government as much as lynn and i did. After lynn and i where done texting i texted carl. When we went to the woods for the first time i wondered why carl was not there but i didn't think much of it. I messaged him what happened and that the plans were canceled. He told me i shouldn't of participated in the protests and that it was my fault the plans were canceled. After that i put my phone back where i found it and went to bed, furious at carl.
I woke up the next day and went down for breakfast. Everyone was silent at the table. After breakfast when my parents went off to work i snuck out my phone again to message lynn about carl. " lynn i think we should kick carl out of our friend group." i messaged her. " Why?" she responded. "He said i should not of helped with the protest and it was all my fault the plans were canceled today." I messaged back. "I will talk to him." lynn texted back. I sent screenshots of the conversation with carl and then put my phone back.
I sat around for most of day not knowing what to do to keep me entertained. My parents have later shifts on weekends so they should be back around 9 PM. I thought about sneaking out but if i was caught my punishment will be a hell of a lot worse. i thought about how lynn said at one point our group want to attempt to overthrow the government. 350 people is a lot of people in our group but definitely not enough to overthrow the government. I decided to spend my time locked inside to plan a way to find more people who hated the government and wanted the end the stupid laws made by them, so i got to work. I grabbed a notebook and a pencil and started to write things down as i try and thing of ways to expand the group without the government finding out about it. We can't just post it on social media because some jackass would report it.
Hours went by as i tried to figure something out. I had some ideas that might work but i will pass them to lynn to look over first before i do anything. One of the possible ideas is putting up poster anonymously hoping the right people find them. Although there are some risks with it. People could take them down, or even take them to police. And we would be in big trouble if they managed to trance it back to me and lynn. I jotted some more ideas down before my parents came home. When i heard the door opened i rushed to find a place to hide the notebook. I decided to hide it behind my dresser.
I walk down stairs to dinner already sitting on the table. " you guys just got home. where did this come from?" i asked. " the neighbor had some leftovers so she gave some to us." my mom said in a cold voice. I could tell she was still mad at me for what i had done. I set the table and we sat down to eat. My parents talked about their day to each other and just completely ignored me. They were acting as i didnt exist or wasn't even there. we finished up dinner and i went up into my room to continue coming up with ideas to expand the group.
