August 25th, 6 Months Before Ariana's Death

Ariana's POV

"Hey mom, have you seen my sneakers?" I call out, jogging down the stairs.

"I haven't, why don't you just wear your boots?" she asks from the kitchen.

"I have gym today." I look at clock and see that it's already 6:55. "Never mind, I'll just borrow a pair from Lexi when I get there."

I slip on a pair of black boots and put my hair up into a ponytail. I grab my school bag off of the back of a kitchen chair and place it on the table. I quickly look through it to make sure I have everything.

"Will you be here when I get home from school?" I ask, slinging my bag over my shoulder.

"No, I have another meeting today. But I'll be home for dinner."

"Alright." I glance outside the window and see a car pull up into the driveway, then moments later I hear a horn beep.

"I'll see you later Ma," I say, walking towards the door.

"Aren't you going to stay for breakfast?" she asks, sounding a little disappointed.

"I can't, Hunter's here. Love you though!" I rush out the door and immediately feel bad for leaving her. We haven't been seeing much of each other lately because she's been working late the past few weeks. We only really see each other in the morning and sometimes at dinnertime, so I can see it in her eyes that she misses spending time with me. But when I have to leave, I have to leave.

"Hey, beautiful," Hunter says as I get into the car. He leans over to kiss me then starts driving.

"It's only our second week back at school and I already want to drop out," I groan, burying my head into my jacket.

"Oh, don't be so melodramatic," Hunter jokes. "At least you have your super amazing boyfriend in four of your classes."

"Four classes too many."

"Shut up, you love me."

"Unfortunately I do. Anyway, what are you doing tonight? I need a study buddy for Hansen's test tomorrow. A test on the seventh day of school by the way. But yeah, I don't wanna study by myself and Lexi usually ends up distracting me. So can you study with me?"

"I actually can't tonight, my parents are going out and I have to babysit the kids."

I frown. "Can I come over and study quietly in the corner then?"

" No, no," he laughs. "Just see if Lexi can study with you, she can't be that bad."

"Fine, jerk. I hope the baby pukes on you." I smile.

"Whatever." He pulls into the school parking lot and parks right in front of the main doors.

"How do you always manage to get a spot right in front? Whenever I drive myself I can only find a spot in the back." I pout.

"Because I actually come to school on time." he smiles. "Now come on."

We walk inside the school hand in hand. We're almost at my locker when I feel someone grab my other hand and pull me the opposite way. When I realize that it's only Lexi, I turn my head to tell Hunter that I'll be right back.

"Where are you taking me, Lexi?" I laugh.

"Cameron needs to talk to you," she says.

"Cameron?" I raise an eyebrow. "What does Cameron want with me? I don't ever talk to him."
