He ran as fast as his legs could possibly carry him.Too many people had already perished for him to give up now, the dripping sweat sticking to his body like a second skin and the crackling soreness of his limbs couldn't slow him down, he couldn't let it slow him down.
He almost let out a sob as the massive intercom system came into view, if he could just get to that. If he could just-
The absolute whirlwind of his thoughts was cut short as a long metal tendril shot out from the wall beside him, breaking through the steel reinforcements, moving faster than the boy could react.
The brunet cried out in agony as he watched the tendril pass almost effortlessly through his abdomen, piercing through to the other side.
Stark blackness began to cloud his vision as his body threatened to give way to faintness, but images of the people he'd come to know flashed in his mind, urging him, begging him to stay lucid.
Forcing himself through the excruciating pain, he lifted a weakened arm up, wielding his makeshift dagger, thrusting down harshly; cutting through the tendril completely.
The shrill cry of the creature sounded out from everywhere, seemingly coming from inside the walls. It retracted the part of its tendril that was still intact, leaving the young man with a piece of it still lodged inside, being the only thing keeping him from bleeding out.
Tears flooded the man's vision as he just kept moving, he couldn't stop, he had to keep going.
His entirely exhausted legs carried him much more quickly than should have been possible to the systems board, arms clutching his stomach, trying to no avail to contain the rush of blood.
He slammed his hand down on the large blinking button near the top of the board, voice cracking with a surge of emotion; terror, agony, desperation.
