At home, 9th April 1950.Steve is asleep on the couch with one leg hanging off the edge and a blanket hardly covering him. Drool starting to run down his cheek.
At the dining table, not too far from the sofa, plates are set. Two tall candles in the centre; one large and one small gift at the edge, wrapped perfectly; and an expensive bottle of wine next to the glasses.
Suddenly Steve shoots up, remembering he has food in the oven. As he stumbles through the door he grabs the oven gloves and opens it up. The food is cooked perfectly and he lets out a sigh of relief.
Golden roasted potatoes, next to carrots, parsnips and broccoli. Chicken on the shelf below, beside two large Yorkshire puddings. Steve smiles as he takes everything out and puts it on the side. Very pleased with himself. He almost drops the vegetables as he hears the front door slam and heels being thrown to the side.
Peggy walks into the kitchen and grins while biting her bottom lip.
"Hi." She says in a happy tone.
"Happy birthday, Peg." Steve walks over, placing his hands on her hips and a kiss on her lips.
"I'm so sorry I didn't get to see you this morning, I didn't expect to be called in on a Sunday. And my birthday of all days!" Steve closes his eyes and shakes his head slowly while grinning. A look that says 'forget about it, think of now'. As he steps back to show his achievement, Peggy looks over his shoulder at the cook book.
"You have completely wrecked the book I bought you!" She picks it up and half the pages are burnt at the corner. It's open at 'Sunday roast', a British classic. "But you made my favourite, very well too. And it is Sunday, so I forgive you." She smiles and walks into the dining room.
She stops to take it all in. Steve comes up behind her and kisses her on the cheek, then walks over to pull out the seat for her. She sighs and rolls her eyes, stepping towards him.
"What a gentleman." She mutters while smiling at him and stroking his cheek before sitting down.
Steve leaves the room then reenters with the veg, leaves again and comes back with the meat and Yorkshire's.
"Dinner is served!" He exclaims.

After they have finished dinner, Steve hands the gifts to Peggy. She opens the bigger one first and it's a box with a lipstick and perfume inside. She opens the lipstick, red of course, and smells it.
"Sweet dreams." Steve says. Peggy gasps and looks at him. He smiles.
"You didn't!!" She shouts while putting the lipstick back and opening the perfume. Inside the lid is a taser. Peggy notices a button on the side an presses it, blue sparks appear. She grins.
"It's called a taser," Steve says, "I had to explain to Howard what it was and he made it for me. It lightly electrocutes someone. You know, for when you're fighting." He leans back in his chair as he watches her get excited over the sparks.
Picking up the smaller box, she shakes it lightly. Opening it up, her eyes widen. Inside is a wonderful gold bracelet.
"I saw it in the shop and thought of you immediately." Steve says as she carefully takes it out the box. He reaches over the table and clips it on for her.
"It's beautiful, Steve. Thank you so much." She says looking up at him with teary eyes. He smiles at her and stands up. She looks at him as he walks round the table towards her. Leaning over, he grabs her hands and stands her up.
"Dance with me." He says. Peggy turns to the record player and begins to play music. She looks back at him and they start to dance. She rests her head on his chest and his chin sits on top.
"I love you." She whispers. They both have a tear rolling down their cheeks.
"I love you too." He replies softly.

RomanceStory of Steve and Peggy. One shots kinda. The timeline where Steve goes back to Peggy and how I imagined their lives would be. This may not be accurate to how marvel said they did it, but this is what makes most sense to me and it's just a story.
