Chicago, 1920. . .

THE BELL CHIMED JUST ABOVE THE BRUNETTE'S HEAD, YET HER ENTRANCE WENT UNHEARD AT THE LAUGHTER AND SINGING OF GLORIA'S BAR.

The English woman was scoping the scene, her thumb gently swiping across the corner of her lips. She brought her finger to her mouth, sucking off the last bit of her dinner as she sauntered her way to the balcony with a mischievous smile.

She was watching Gloria sing, the witch catching her eyes and winking. She giggled, shaking her head as she observed the crowd.

She was still hungry, using the excuse of draining her victims to distract the hollowness in her heart left by the very woman who stole her heart and happiness. She scowled at the thought, her hands gripping the railing tightly.

"Careful now, sweetheart," she froze, not expecting the new voice from behind. She could hear the smile in his voice from catching her off guard. "You might just break the railing with a grip like that."

With a roll of her eyes she lazily turned to see the man before her. He was handsome with his brunette hair gelled back and the rebellious strand hanging just above his enchanting green eyes. He wore a cocky smirk that amplified his arrogant attitude. She dismissed the man with a small hum and found interest in the crowd once more.

"Oh, you're a feisty one!" He laughed only stepping closer to her. She ran her tongue over her teeth through closed lips, her patience wearing thin. "And aren't you obnoxious?"

"Obnoxious?" He mused, eyes twinkling. He was toying with her now, enjoying the way he worked each of her nerves. "I'd like to think I'm the life of the party!"

"Well isn't it a good thing that you're pretty?" Zakiyah sassed earning a bubble of laughter from the ripper. "Pretty enough to have this dance with you?"

Zakiyah laughed, the melody causing a stir within the brunet's stomach. He couldn't help, but take a step closer to her, the move having been noticed by the English woman. She tsked, finding amusement in his curiosity.

"Didn't your mother teach you not to talk to strangers?" Zakiyah smirked, stepping forward so that she was mere inches away from the ripper. "Strangers can make the best of friends wouldn't you say? That's how all friendships start off isn't it?"

Zakiyah leaned in, her lips hovering just above his earlobe. He held his breath, lips twisting into a small smile. Zakiyah rested her hand on his chest, feeling his heartbeat just below her fingertips.

"Hmm, I suppose you're right, but the same couldn't be said for the dinner on your breath," Her delivery was smooth like velvet and sweet like honey. "I'm not going to be your next meal, ripper, because I bite back."

Drawing away slowly, Zakiyah let her hand trail down his chest until she let it fall limply to her side. She backed away from the vampire who was staring at her in awe. She giggled, raising her chin as she brushed past him.

"Wait,"

He wrapped his hand around her wrist, holding her back. Her tongue hit the roof of her mouth making a clicking sound. She pursed her lips and faced his direction with a mischievous gleam in her eyes.

"Who are you?"

"Now what's the fun in telling you when you need to earn it?" Zakiyah slipped her hand out of his grip with ease. "Until next time, Mr. Salvatore I have to tend to my friends."

Giving him a playful wink, the English woman sauntered her way over to the two Originals watching her from the booth they occupied.

The young ripper watched as she slipped into the seat beside the blond male who was glaring daggers at him. He gulped, but the fear dispersed when his eyes landed on her again. She was watching him with hooded eyes and a devilish grin that promised trouble.

She ran her tongue across her top lip whose fangs lengthened from their sheaths. He chuckled at the sight. Stefan reached for a glass of champagne from the waiters walking around and brought it to his lips while watching her.

She smiled at him and then shifted her attention to the blond sitting beside her and whispered something in his ears that made him grin. Stefan took that as his cue to look away.

The ripper knew better than to let his curiosity get the best of him especially since he turned off his humanity. But something about the mysterious English woman had him entranced. . .

How foolish he was to allow for his temptations to get the better of him. For Zakiyah Reed would be the very woman who would steal his heart like Katherine Pierce had and leave him just the same as Katherine had to Zakiyah Reed.
