Reijin Jirazein: 7 years old
~
Rei was a young girl, who seemed to live a normal life. That is, if her parents hated her for some reason, and her closest friend was the old exorcist man that she saw every week for a 'cleansing'.
This young girl had short, black hair that curled at the ends and went to her mid neck. Her skin was pale, unusual for a girl, but was pretty still. She was short, but looked to grow around 5' 6" when she was older. The feature that made people shun the girl, that made her parents resent her, was the girls blood red eyes. So pure, so innocent, yet just because of the color, people bullied her.
Though, despite the rough life, Reijin, or Rei as she liked to be called, was happy. Her weekly visits to her friend, Shiro Fujimoto made her last till the next visit. To her, he seemed to understand her like no one did. They joked, laughed, played, and talked. Sometimes, Rei would accidently slip up and call Shiro 'father' for they were so close.
She never knew that he would help her in more ways than just being her friend.
~
Rei giggled again, pushing Shiro as he tried to tickle her. "No no! I don't wanna be tickled, Shiro!" The girl squealed.
Father Fujimoto laughed, tickling her a bit more before letting her go. Even though the girl before him was still little, he could feel that something bad was going to happen.
"Alright! Alright! I'll quit, but only if you went on the swings with me!" Fujimoto grinned, crossing his arms at the girl. Rei instantly nodded, laughing at Shiro's childish ways.
They were currently in the park, the time around 2 pm in September. The hotness of summer was finally giving away to fall, and some trees were already turning. It was a weekday, and Shiro's 'day off' while Rin and Yukio were at school.
"Shiro! Shiro!" Rei giggled excitedly as she tugged the old man towards the swings. "Guess what? I saw a big animal the other day! It was nice and wanted to play with me, but Mommy said I couldn't and took me away. The big animal looked angry!!" As she finished telling her small story, she jumped into a swing, kicking her legs. "Push me push me!"
Shiro hesitated for a moment, trying to digest this information. If Rei had actually made contact with a demon, and it was trying to get her to come with it, that means she... He shook his head, putting a wide smile on his face. "Seems like a nice animal, Rei, eh?" He said as he began pushing her.
Rei squealed, laughing. The two spent about an hour more in the park, before heading back to the monastery.
When they were on their way back, Rei seemed to be in deep thought for such a carefree girl.
Shiro glanced at Rei, "What're you thinking about Rei?"
She shrugged, her black bangs falling in front of her eyes. Truthfully, she wasn't thinking, she just had this strange feeling, like something was coming. She looked up at Shiro with a small frown.
"Something bad is coming."
No later than a second passed before the building beside the two exploded. Shiro instantly felt the demon presence, and got ready, hiding the little girl behind him. Rei was staring with wide eyes, not believing what was happening.
The demon crawled out of the rubble, and Shiro almost scrunched his nose at the sight. About the size of a car, the demon was ten tons of trouble. It's skin was a grimy green color, and it's body shape was somewhat like a coldtar. It's breath stunk, and it slung saliva everywhere.
Rei trembled, watching the big monster crawl towards her and Shiro. She hadn't felt so afraid in her life, not even when the big meanies at school messed with her.
The monster turned its beady eyes to the girl, and it started laughing. "HAHAHA. That's the half breed of Azrikim? King of Flames!? Puny! It hasn't even awoken it's powers yet, HAHAHAHA!" The demons voice was loud, scratchy, and evil. It made the most horrible feeling in the air.
Rei flinched at the velocity of the monsters voice. Even monsters made fun of her. She puffed out her cheeks and stepped out from behind Shiro, who seemed to be getting out some kind of water grenades. She glared up at the foul demon, putting her hands on her hips.
"You don't even know me, big monster! I bet you're weak too, and that's why you're picking on me! Just because I'm small doesn't mean you can make fun of me!" Rei's voice had raised is volume and pitch, and by the time she was through she was shouting.
Who knew she had guts?
Shiro took the opportunity to throw the holy water filled balloons at the demon when it was distracted by Rei, and they burst on contact. The demon screeched, flailing around in pain. The old man quickly picked up Rei and began running to the monastery.
But, it was futile. The demon reared up and a tail appeared out of nowhere, striking Shiro down. He grunted and fell, Rei rolling along the ground with a few cuts and bruises.
"Shiro! Shiro!!" Rei scrambled over to her fatherly friend and saw the blood coming from his shoulder where the tail hit. He tried to get up, but soon he realized that there was a paralyzing agent in the tail of the demon.
Rei trembled while looking at her friend. She couldn't do anything, and she felt so helpless.
The demon began laughing, a horrid sound, and crawled slowly towards the girl and exorcist. "What're you going to do now, half breed wimp?! Wait till the exorcist gets up to save you? HA! Not likely!" With one of its big meaty hands it grabbed Rei up, holding it in front of its face.
It squeezed, making the girl cry out, tears running down her face.
"You can't do anything! Azrikim was a fool to make you, puny half breed!!!"
Rei cried out as the demon squeezed it's fist again. She was in pain, most likely having a few broken bones. A slow chill crept up her spine, towards her head where it stayed.
The girl suddenly stilled. Soft laughter echoed out of Rei's mouth, her bangs covering her eyes. Soon, the laughter grew louder and louder, till it sounded like a maniacal laugh. She tilted her head up, looking straight into the demons eye with her blood red ones.
"Heh..heh...You think I'm not strong? That I can't kill you? Heh heh heh.. you are the fool! I'll show you why everyone calls me a demon!!" Her voice rose to a loud shriek and suddenly she screamed, a loud explosion happening with blinding light.
Shiro watched from the ground, knowing what was happening. He knew it would happen sooner or later, but not today. He slowly rose up into a sitting position, and when the light died down, his eyes widened.
Rei stood in the road, glaring at the smoky crater where the demon once stood. She silently let tears fall, not moving. She had become what all her life people said she was. A demon. The proof was all over her body, covering her.
Red flames.
