Eyes snap open, covered in sweat, you can hear your heart pounding so loud your eardrums hurt. A high-pitched sound passed through your ears from the left. Your head is heavy. Still covered in sweat. "Where am I? Was that all a dream?" you said as you sat up and looked around the room. The room was dark. But the small ray of light managed to pass through the blinds and light outlines of the room. It was your bedroom.
*You sighed with relief.
You looked to your left where you managed to find your phone and check the time.
2:30 a.m.
"Meh, too early." you said ignoring the sticky note on your computer saying "Pass Project".
You plopped back into bed and put your arm on your forehead. "The pimples aren't going anywhere are they now?" you thought out loud as your hand began to trace them on your forehead. You closed your eyes trying to wrap your head around what happened.
"It felt too real simply be a dream." you thought to yourself as you rolled back to sleep.
*Alarm goes off
6:00 a.m.
*By now you have already forgotten about the dream.
"Welp, time to start the day!" you exclaimed sarcastically.
You opened the blinds and got up. Found your way to the toilet and debated whether or not you would take a shower. "Nah, I don't smell, right?" you said as you opened your computer and open the school's website.
"Third Quarter Milestone Project, Overdue by 2 days and 4 hours. "
Oh no.
You went to your files and went to look for the right assignment to submit. You found it and finished the final touches of your project like sonic the hedgehog running full speed. Just to read the next line on your way to submit:
"Restricted, available only up to Friday"
*Panic mode activated.
You sent your teacher a detailed e-mail as to why you weren't able to submit the project on time with the attached file of your project. With slight lies that you were having trouble connecting to the internet. Completely leaving out the fact that you purely forgot about it. Fingers crossed, she won't see through it.
You went downstairs to do your chores and have breakfast. By 8:15 a.m., you were already late for the homeroom class. But that wouldn't be a problem. You know your teacher would understand.
You sat on your chair as you joined the zoom meeting with cameras turned off.
"Time to get things started."
You went ahead and finished off most of your tasks for the sake of sleep and hoping that the next chapter of the manga your reading would be out.
By 3:00 p.m., you finished school. Still nervous, waiting for the response of your teacher.
"Noted, with thanks." - Mrs Williams
"Yes!" you exclaimed with relief.
You have started to calm down decided to take a break from the computer before mom gets mad. You looked outside your window to see your dog playing around in the yard. "Maybe this would calm me down?" you thought. You went downstairs to play with your dog.
You came back inside after playing with your dog for a few minutes and jumped on the couch. Turned on the TV and the first thing you see on the news was a Russian man nearing his sixty's. He was talking in a very calm tone about his son who had died of natural causes. He looked familiar. His son too? Almost like as if you knew who he was. You thought nothing of it and changed the channel. I don't know who he is.
Right?
