(Todoroki's POV)

I don't have the confidence to talk to my mom just yet. I wanted to talk to her and tell her about UA, but I'm just not ready yet. I ended up just staring at the door to the hospital for a while before starting to walk away. But before I can even take a step, I see a crowd forming on the other side of the street. I cross to check it out and see that they're crowded around someone who's knocked out. Taking a closer look, I realize it's the boy I walk home from school with. The son of Marionette, L/N Y/N. It looks like his head is bleeding.

I push through the crowd and pick him up to take him to the nearby hospital. I check him in and they examine him. They think he lost consciousness through someone's quirk, since it was so sudden. He hit his head on the ground hard enough to make himself bleed when he fell. So, he should be up soon. I pull out my phone and text my dad about the situation I'm in, telling him I won't be home any time soon. I wait by his bed for him to wake up.

After an hour of so, he finally starts to stir. I call in a nurse as soon as he wakes up and he does a basic checkup on him. L/N is fine, so it won't be long until he's discharged, but they are bringing him some food to eat. We're alone for the moment.

"Free food, score!" He says, quietly. "What are you doing here, Todoroki?"

"I was visiting someone," he says. "I noticed there was a crowd around you and took you into the hospital because you were hurt."

He smiles. "I'm fine. I was just heading home, actually."

"I take it you live nearby?"

"Not at all, actually! I live down the street from you."

"Oh, then we can take the train back to your house after you eat."

"You're joking."

"Huh?"

"Wait, so I walked all the way here for nothing!"

"You walked here?"

He nods. "I know the way by heart. I visit my mom every Saturday at the nearby prison."

I purse my lips and look towards the ground. He talks a lot. I like that about him. Around him, I have someone to listen to who isn't boring. "How did it go?"

"She just checked in with me. She asked about my first week at UA and if I made any friends. Ah, have you heard about the puzzle killer?"

"Yeah, we talk about the case in class."

"Right, so my mom has a whole bunch of information on them, especially their motive, but no cops are there for her to give the information to. So, mom's been telling me stuff to tell the cops."

"How did that work out?"

"No one believes me," he sighs, disappointed. "I don't know if it's because I'm a kid or what, but whenever I even try to bring up the Puzzle Killer, I'm entirely disregarded." His eyes suddenly light up and he leans forward. "Heyy, your brother's an adult, right? Think he'll pass the information on to the cops?"

"Maybe," I respond. "I'll give you his number if you want it."

"Wait, but I don't even have your number?" He tilts his head. "Isn't it a bit weird to have your brother's number but not yours?"

Before I respond, the nurse enters the room and gives him a tray of food. He eats it, happily, almost too fast to not choke. I have to tell him to slow down and even after that, he's still eating so quickly, I'm worried he might choke. Eventually, I just take the tray from him for a moment and make him promise to eat slowly before I return it. When I do return it, he eats slow enough for him to not choke. I smile, softly, glad I managed to get him to not choke. He pauses, his fork in his mouth, staring at me. I tilt my head.
