It was a night where the sky was clear, breath-taking colours filling the void of the universe. Each star was a different story, whispering towards her under the midnight velvet of the blanket above. The Konoha festival, a mile away, filled the surroundings with an abundance of joy, happy voices and laughter ringing through the air, and she could see the glow of the town's lighting from where she stood on a rooftop.

With a heart longing for freedom, desperateness crawling through her ribcage like prickly vines, she reached a hand out towards the sky, fingers spread wide as if trying to grasp the divine beauty between her fingers. Some of the stars even twinkled at her, and her eyebrows furrowed with a yearning one could only imagine.

"Beautiful, right?" Her voice was tender with drunken contentment as the man walked beside her with hidden footsteps. His hitai-ate, forehead protector, covered his left eye and a skin-tight, black mask covered his face, neck, and extended to his shoulders. The grey kimono he wore was tailored amazingly to his body, emphasising his broad shoulders and height that he bore.

"Yeah." Kakashi replied, leaning on the railing that separated them from the rooftop and the ground. His voice was soft, quiet with adoration as he glanced at the woman he considered a little sister. "You look beautiful as well." A smile grew on her face as she stared up into the night sky.

"Thank you." Her kimono was full length unlike her usual attire, a beautiful sakura pink that complimented her eyes gorgeously. Her hitai-ate was wrapped around her waist, cinching and teasing the sight of the body she had. Glancing to the side, Rei looked Kakashi up and down with the small smile resting on her face. "You look very personable too. I'm sure the ladies anguished over the fact that they didn't see the face under that mask." The man dignified her response with a quiet chuckle and wrapped his own left arm around her shoulders.

"Well," he hummed faintly, hand pulling her to lean against his shoulder, "they certainly weren't happy." A comfortable silence resonated through the air after that, and the vines prying through her ribcage receded and settled slightly. Fuchsia eyes found themselves back at the glowing of the night sky, a peacefulness settling around the two.

"Have you heard the story of Orihime and Hikoboshi?" She felt Kakashi shake his head. "It's about two of the brightest stars in the sky, and it's a beautifully sad story. Would you like to hear it?" This time she felt him nod, resting his chin on the top of her own head with a small hum. "Orihime was an immortal celestial seamstress," she starts, closing her eyes, "a Goddess of the night sky, and she wove clothes for her father, Tentei, who was known as the universe itself." Fiddling with the end of her sleeves, she relaxes into the male, leaning her body weight into him.

"Must have been quite a peaceful life." He muses, the soft rumble of his chest soothing Rei.

"Yes," her voice was tender as if reminiscing, "her father adored the clothes she wove, so she worked incredibly hard everyday for her father. But," it now grew sad, " she despaired over never finding love and living alone for eternity, concerning the universe. So he arranged for her to meet a cowherder, Hikoboshi, who lived and worked on the other side of the milky way. They fell in love instantly and got married."

"Sounds like that's a happy ending." As her eyes opened, she felt Kakashi's hand rub small circles into the end of her shoulders, and the glow of the village festival was still as beautiful as before.
