Chapter 6- Secrets under the Willow

Chapter 6~

"Good morning Professor McGonagall," I greeted at the entrance to her classroom.

"Good morning Miss (L/N), I hope you pay attention to today's lecture," Professor McGonagall said, one of her thin eyebrows raising in stern.

"Of course Professor, when have I ever dismissed your lectures?" I said awkwardly.

"All the time actually," Simon said, as he approached the class with Honey. It seems slytherin and hufflepuff are participating in today's lecture.

"Since first year actually," Honey said softly. She gave a sheepish grin, hiding behind Simon as I gave a silencing glare in their direction.

"Whose side are you on?" I whispered harshly.

"The winning side," Simon said as he walked past with a laugh, nodding in Professor McGonagalls direction. Honey smiled apologetically and scurried in after Simon, sitting next to him in the front of the classroom. I shook my head and grumbled my way past Professor McGonagall who sighed softly and made my way next to Simon, while Professor McGonagall made her way to the front.

"Today in class we will be learning a tricky spell in Transfiguration! Turn to page 453 in your book of Advanced Transformation and ready your wands," Professor McGonagall stated.

Simon and Honey turned to the pages and ready their wands, I looked off of Simon's book as I readied my wand, I was amused by the transformation we were to complete in today's lesson.

"As you can see you will be transforming into cats as part of the lesson and successfully transforming back, as a special bonus if any of you can perform the spell perfectly I will allow you to leave class early!" Professor McGonagall stated. "However, please be aware that without full understanding you could possibly hurt yourself or return with extra appendages."

Simon and Honey were a little nervous but they talked excitedly about the process and what kind of cats they would become.

"What do you think?" Simon asked, I was preoccupied with packing my stuff since I was definitely getting out early.

"Well Simon would definitely turn into a sphinx and Honey would definitely be a scottish fold munchkin," I said thoughtfully after careful consideration.

"Wow! Why do you know so much about cats? And why are you packing up?" Honey asked softly, her head tilted in curiosity as I finished packing up my last piece of parchment.

"Well Honey, I own a handsome Maine Coon and Professor McGonagall said so herself, if you can transfiguration successfully you can leave early," I stated matter of factly.

"Oooh! Love the confidence really I do, but this is the hardest lesson of the year and you think you can just perfectly perform such a task?" Simon gawked, his eyebrows raised in confusion and a little contempt.

"Simon, sweety you don't even know half of my confidence," I humphed, smirking confidently in his direction. Just then Professor McGonagall transformed into a beautiful tabby cat, with markings of her glasses imbued on the fur of her face. She transformed back and calmly stated the spell.

"The spell can perform the same function of turning into an animal of your choosing but I am also an animagus registered with the Ministry of Magic as a tabby cat. Be sure to study the difference between transfiguring and an animagus for our next lesson," Professor McGonagall lectured. "With that who will go first in demonstrating today's lesson?"

"(Y/N) will!" Simon yelled out excitedly. I rolled my eyes as he smirked at me with doubt in his eyes but I was going to prove him wrong, afterall no one loves cats more than me.
