Chapter 2- The Sorting Hat

The carriages lurched forward and we made our way to the castle at a steady pace. I watched the first years step into the boats and with a swoosh of the Professor's wands they began their journey to the glorious castle known as Hogwarts. Like always the carriages with the more experienced students arrive at the castle first where we have 10 minutes to run to our rooms and place our belongings before the first years arrive. We all quickly ran to our dorm entrances and received the password via owl before we left for the school semester. I opened the door, making sure only us Slytherins were present.

"Sneaky slithering Slytherins," I whispered to the door, letting those close enough to hear spread the password secretly. I ran up to my private room, Simon following close behind and we placed our belongings at the bottom of our beds and ran out to the common room, quickly guiding the other students to the great hall for the feast and sorting of the first years. I was so excited to see Lucius become a Slytherin. I knew he would become one, just like all the Malfoy's in the past. As everyone finally filtered out, Simon and I quickly followed and sat in spots closest to the professors and faced the stool in which all the first years would be sorted. I sat whispering to Simon and telepathically communicated with Ria and Honey.

'I hope the first years are decent this year!' I thought.

'Same. They were quite slow last year' Simon responded.

'Mine were so cute and quiet!' Honey replied.

'...dumb... but not bad like Gryffindor' Ria input.

'Ugh! Tell me about it. Now that you mentioned those bags of potatoes, I didn't see the dunderhead today' I thought, looking around the Gryffindor table.

"Looking for me?" came an annoyingly swave voice in front of Simon and I.

"Ew. Never would we willingly LOoK for you shrimpy. You just weren't doing your duties at the station. Again," I snarled, rolling my eyes at none other than the useless Gryffindor prefect standing in front of me.

"Aw don't be like that (y/n). I know you can't resist me-" He began but was cut short by a gagging noise coming from me and Simon. We looked at each other and giggled but was interrupted by a hand slamming on the table.

"Ha! You won't be so snobby when I kick your arse on the quidditch field this year!"

"Pfft! When have you ever beat me on the quidditch field Vincent Vandal?"

"W-well this year is going to be different! And I wasn't skipping my duties! I was guiding a certain group of first years into the right direction!"

"Ooooh. You must mean recruiting those poor first years into your stupid little jock squad filled with nothing but joksters, meatheads and their leader, you, the almighty dunderhead, right?" I laughed sarcastically.

"Shut it! I'm so going to-"

"Going to what Mr. Vandal?" The rich, smooth voice of Headmaster Albus Dumbledore (Almost forgot to make him younger ;p) spoke behind him. I looked up at Dumbledore smiling brightly as I saw the look of anger turn into nervous terror when Vincent heard him.

"U-uh ahem* properly prove to her that Gryffindor is the best house," Vincent lied.

"Mhmm I see. Although I agree with you, now is hardly the time for that. Hurry off to your table Mr.Vandal or you'll be the first point deduction for our lovely house, hmm?" Dumbledore replied smoothly.

"Y-yes of course!" Vincent squealed, hurrying off to his friends.

"Pfft! Thank you Headmaster. He tends to be a real pain in my b- ahem* Look, the kids are coming!" I said, changing the subject in order to cover my statement.
