POWER|| Bucky Barnes

Chapter 2

Arriving at the airport with sam, she sighed in content at the feel of her newly installed waist length box braids. Monica and Sam both stopped at a poster of John Walker as the new captain America as she watched Sam's nose flare up

"Monica, how are you gonna go into combat with those" he said gesturing to her braids and successfully taking their minds of John Walker

"Oh, I didn't even think of that" she replied
making Sam mutter something under his breath about her being unprofessional. On hearing that,  Monica raised her eyebrows as if daring him to say it to her her hearing

"You got a suit?" Sam asked

"Yeah, Wanda made me one"

"Wanda? As in Wanda Maximoff?"

"Yep, oh you think you're my only superhero friend?" she asked cockily

Before Sam could reply, their conversation was cut off by a deep voice

"You shouldn't have given up the shield" Monica looked up at the strange man trying to decipher who he is

"Good to see you too Buck" Buck she thought as she tried to remember where she had heard the name before as Sam and the said man began to proceed toward the government plane.

Then it hit her. The winter soldier, brainwashed by HYDRA to do their biddings

"This is wrong" Bucky said passively

"Hey, hey hey I'm working, so all this outrage is gonna have to wait" Sam said

"You didn't know that was gonna happened? He said referring to the shield that Sam gave up

"Of course I didn't know, you think it didn't break my heart to see them march him out there and name him the new captain America" Sam said sadly

"This isn't what Steve wanted"

"What do you want me to do? Call America and tell them I changed my mind"

"Actually, you can do that" Monica said piping up from behind them making the both of them  look at her like she had grown a third eye

"Yeah right" Sam chuckled

"It's a great reunion buddy, be well

"You had no right to give up the Shield" James repeated

"Hey, this is what you're not gonna do, you're not gonna come here in your overextended life and tell me what to do. It's over Bucky. Besides I have bigger things to worry about"

"What could possibly be bigger than this" Bucky asked baffled making Sam bring out his phone and give him details on the flag smashers

"Who's that" she heard Bucky whisper to Sam

"Why don't you turn around and ask her"

Bucky groaned and Sam chuckled
Monica who was listening to their conversation decided to take matters into her hands

"Captain Monica Rambeau, SWORD" Monica said stretching out her hand

Bucky stared at her and her outstretched hand for what seemed like forever

"Bucky Barnes" he replied shaking her hands
After the short introduction, Bucky looked forward and kept walking making her tap Sam lightly

"Why did he stare that long"

"Oh, it's nothing personal, he just stares a lot"
"Red wing traced the Flag smashers to a building outside of Munich and we're gonna find out if he's right

"I'm coming with you guys"

"No you're not" Sam shouted

"Wait a minute,did you just refer to red wing as a 'he' " Monica asked

       As they made their way towards the government plane , Monica tied her braids into a ponytail and made sure to change into the suit Wanda made for her; it was a silver and black suit with two stars in the middle of the chest joined by a zipper, very fitting on her pear shaped body. Immediately she came out, she heard a wolf whistle from Torres before he looked away due to the volcano like glare she gave him

"1 minute till drop off" Torres counted as they were about to land in Munich. Sam and Bucky were having a mini stare off per usual

"What is with the testosterone?" Monica thought

"15 seconds till drop off" Torres said as Sam gave them both an earpiece

"Monica, you can find your way down right?"

To which Monica confirmed as Sam in his Falcon uniform flew out of the plane leaving them both behind
"What about me" Bucky asked but Sam had already flown out
"Great. Where's the chute"

"It's too low to use a chute" Torres countered

"I don't need one" Monica watched as he tore the left sleeve of his uniform exposing his metal arm

"Incredible " Monica thought tempted to touch it as she had never seen it up close

"You sure you wanna do that"

"Yeah" he said unsurely giving her a small side smile before jumping out of the plane with a battle cry using his metal arm as a barricade

"Here goes nothing" she said as she closed her eyes and tried to channel her energy like she and Wanda has practiced into flying. With her eyes a bright blue colour, she levitated and landed in the forest gently. As she looked up, she saw Bucky about to land harshly and with a flicker of a wrist, he was suspended In air as she lowered her hands slowly and he landed softly encased in blue .
He looked at her in amazement, her eyes and veins still burning bright blue

"I have all that on camera, I call it Damsel James in distress" the voice of Sam came with redwing in Bucky's face making Monica chuckle

"Wow, Monica that was incredible, I didn't know you could do that " Bucky said as she lended a hand out to him

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me"

"I'm willing to find out" he said staring at her

"Send help! A senior citizen is flirting" Sam voice cut off their conversation

"Get out of my face Sam or I'll break it"Bucky swatted at red wing

"Okay, enough flirting,head north guys come on"

            As they hid behind a crater, Bucky and Sam were having an argument about their plan of attack but as soon as they spotted the flag smashers about to escape, they sprang into action.
