Ella

The dream seemed so vivid and real, grams used to tell me stories of the beasts that hunt in the night, she always called them demons and my protectors. She never said anything that made sense to me, after all she passed away when I was still very young to the world. I remember the night before she passed she got into it with my so called parents. I was the simple age of six and no matter what I did or how many times I lied to her, she always knew the truth but never acted on it.

Flashback

"You are evil Damen!" shouted my grandmother " how am I evil mother? I am raising the perfect family, I have the job of my dreams and the women that loves me, unlike you and dad. You were never happy with each other and it always showed, I have the picture perfect family." "That's just it! Your father and I loved each other, no matter how many times a day we fought, we put our children's happiness first! You and that vile women you claim to love hurt a poor and defenseless child! Your daughter, does that mean nothing to you! " "No, Ella was not planned. The perfect family to me is one child and son, which I have and then Ella came along. It wont be long before people start to notice what we do to her, she destroys everything."  "You should be protecting her, like I have done for the past six years."  "You wont be here forever mother, sooner or later she will have no one to protect her." " I am not be here forever Damen, but someone else will. Someone who will rather strike you all dead then allow what your doing to that poor girl to happen any longer. Mark my words son, soon she will be with someone who doesn't want you dirty money, who would rather have your blood instead." "Stop talking in your riddles mother."

I remember that night like it was yesterday, Gram's passed in the night with a note left on her bedside table that said "They will come soon, and all those in their way will parish" My father had packed up weeks after the funeral and moved us across the country to where we just left. They never knew I had heard them that night. I always wondered what gram's had meant about them?

Before I could think to much into it I heard the front door slam open and saw my brother standing there. "Lets go, its nightfall I dont know where you have been but lets go." He grabbed my arm and pulled me to the car and drove us down to the boardwalk. Once we were there I felt a shiver clime up my spine almost like something big was going to happen. My brother pulled me through the crowed and to a alleyway. "You ran out of time little girl." The voice of my father said as we came around the corner. I knew they were going to kill me, I could see it in their eyes. My mother began to lung at me when my brother realized my arm, but before she could touch me a hand reached out of the shadows and pulled her in. My father looked to where she disappeared from. "What the hell?" he questioned, my brother turned to me and tried to pull me to him as some kind of shield before he too was pulled into the shadows. My father looked at me and then to where my brother was once, "what is going on? You little bitch what did you do?" he yelled we heard my grandmothers voice,

"They will protect her through the darkness" but also lead her into

it."  someone else will. Someone who will rather strike you all dead then allow what your doing to that poor girl to happen any longer. Mark my words son, soon she will be with someone who doesn't want you dirty money, who would rather have your blood instead."

"I tried to warn you my son, now you have to face the cost of your actions"

As gram's voice drifted through the shadows, four men wrapped in leather stepped out of said shadows. One with bleach blond hair and striking blue eyes like my own stood behind my father. Someone stood behind me and placed their hands on my shoulders, "I told you we would be coming for you little rose." a voice said inside my mind. Before I could react the blond blue eyed man looked at the one behind me and said "Dwayne if you would." The hand on my left shoulder pinched a spot between where my neck and shoulder met, as the world faded to black I heard my fathers screams of pain and agony. " Your finally home little rose, welcome to the Shadows"
