In the middle of the night, Mara was staring to a burning candle when a husky voice rung out:

- Hum, honey, honey, honey... We've made an agreement you and me. And you BROKE it! He shouted at the end. How will I punish you, tell me?

- You don't scare me, you Devil. You gave me power; how do you want to stop me now? You can't take it back, you can't bear go back on your decision...

- You dare provoke me dear? Look at you! It's me who gave you that confidence. But apparently, I gave you too much... It looks like you wanna be like me... Good, I find it. If you really want that much to turn into a demon, then I'll condemn you to roam on Earth evermore, alone...

- Immortality? Is that really your punishment?

Mara laughed. A breeze blew some sheets away and turned off the candle. The girl opened her dark eyes wide: two black horns were growing up on her head.

- What are you doing?! What's this? Answer me!

Mara shouted through the room, but nobody responded: The Devil had already left, and the black raven, which Branwen was, kept staring at her, croaking from time to time. And then, she understood. The Devil specified she had to be alone, and with two horns above the forehead, it was impossible to live in society. Maybe that was the price you paid when you'd sent your soul to the Devil...
