Every step you take counts and it's bringing you closer to your dream life. —Anonymous
The harmattan breeze wafted through Tara's body as she walked out of the bank with pride. The chilly wind wiped at her leg as she walked.
With the first salary she got after being promoted to the Head of Graphics Designing, Tara could deposit some money towards her University tuition.
The joy of taking a step closer to fulfilling her dream brought a huge smile to her face.
The cold gust of wind made her clutch her burgundy sweater tighter. She licked her lips to moisten them.
Dryness to the atmosphere and people's skins tagged along with the season of harmattan.
Wandering down the sidewalk, she imagined an interior design degree with her name inscribed on it.
She also envisioned the broad smile on her mother's face when both of them would cut the bow in front of her interior designing company.
Despite the cold weather she seemed to be smiling.
She looked upward at the bright blue sky and muttered, "Thank you, Jesus."
She smiled at everyone who passed her on the sidewalk. A few nodded, but others just passed without acknowledgment. That didn't affect her cheerful disposition.
At that moment, nothing could make her sad. Her future had never looked so bright.
She bounced up the stairs of Angelo Marcello and Bees Construction and Interiors company. Luckily, the office was five minutes away from the bank.
Declaring a "thank you" to the security officer at the door, Tara stepped into the air-conditioned office.
The chilly breeze made her shiver even more.
"Happy new year," she told everyone with a smile as she headed to her cubicle.
"What a sight to behold. The queen of graphics is in a good mood."
Tara rolled her eyes at her friend, who headed toward her with a mischievous smile. "Cut it outlt, Jay. I am always in a good mood."
"Hmm...that is a rare occurrence." He grinned.
She narrowed her eyes and punched his arms.
"Ouch! Queen T, you punch like a man." He clutched his arm and moaned in mock pain.
Tara shook her head at his childishness."In case you don't know, I am only in a bad mood when I am around you." Her eyes twinkled with mirth.
"Oh please, you mean to say you are always in a good mood when you are around me?" He smirked in arrogance.
"Whatever," she said and rolled her eyes.
"Anyway, leave all that. How are you?" He asked as he crossed his arms.
Her huge smile reappeared, and she replied, "I am doing excellent. The Lord has been good."
"That's good to hear." He smiled.
"What about you? How have you been?" She asked?
