Prologue
I was beginning to remember things. But my mind couldn’t decipher between all the memories that were constantly flooding into my head. I remembered my name, Louis Tomlinson. But my story, I had no clue.
I was sitting up in a hospital bed; four pillows piled high above my head, watching some stupid soap opera on TV. The nurses came in every once in a while to check on me and make sure I was still breathing. They told me I’d been in a car accident and had lost all my memory, and I believed them, because I couldn’t even tell you what country I was from. The doctor came in every 8 hours to remind me that I wouldn’t be leaving the hospital anytime soon. I just smiled up at him, because in truth, where would I go? I don’t remember a single person that has been a part of my life.
I lay down on the hard mattress and threw two of the four pillows onto the floor beside me. I decided to get comfortable seeing how I’d be stuck in this hell hole for however long it took me to regain my memory. I looked up at the ceiling, and started counted the little dots which had been texturized on. I sectioned the ceiling off into 4 parts and then proceeded to count. 1…2…3…4...5…6…7…8…9…10…11…12…13…14…15…16…17…
But that was as far as I got because just then, four boys who I’d never seen before walked into the room.
“Um, Hello, What’re you guys doing here?” I asked suspicious. I mean, wasn’t this supposed to be staff and family only?
“Hi, Louis..” The curly haired boy started, but then stopped because he started crying. The blonde boy walked over to him and put his arm around the boy and whispered something in his ear.
"Mate, are you okay?” I asked Curly, he hadn’t stopped crying and was sitting on the little couch, nervously rubbing his hands together.
“Yeah, I just have a question; you honestly don’t know who I am?” He replied, quickly standing up and walking back over to the group. I was stumped, because I didn’t. I would’ve sworn I had never seen this boy before in my life.
“No, sorry, I don’t know you. Should I?” I asked cautiously, I didn’t want to set the poor guy off crying again.
My attempt at sparing him didn’t work though because within seconds he was back on the couch crying. I looked up at the other boys; there was the blonde one, the one with the buzz cut, and the other one who had black hair. They seemed very familiar, but I couldn’t for the life of me place where I knew them from.
“Hey Lou, I’m Liam, are you sure you don’t remember me or any of us?” The boy with the buzz cut said quietly. The curly haired one slowly rose up to listen to my reply.
“No..,” I whispered. “Try as I might I can’t place you’re faces in my memory. But I know I know you all, I can feel it. Why is that?” I asked. I was completely confused now.
“Well mate, how about we show you instead of telling you?” The black haired boy said. Then he pulled a guitar out and handed it to the blonde, who immediately started strumming some beautiful chords.
When you try your best but you don't succeed

When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

They continued singing, but to be truthful I zoned out because my brain was remembering so many things at once. I knew these guys, I did. They were my best friends, my band mates. But I still didn’t understand anything; all I knew was that they were four of the people I trusted most in this world. They understood me like no one else could, and they loved me unconditionally.
I realized then that I had spaced out completely, and they had finished singing.
“I do know you!” I screeched in delight. This was one of the first times I was able to remember something. They all looked up at me in surprise.
“You’re Harry, Liam, Niall, and Zayn.” I named them off in order of how they were standing. Harry beamed down at me like I was a child just taking their first steps. The other three looked to be in shock; I had surprised them.
“Lou, man, we didn’t think you would remember so quickly.” Niall stated, then he came over and smacked me gently on the back, “We’re proud, you’re going to be back to normal within no time.”
“God I hope so.” I whispered, and then sent a small prayer to God, asking for his help to get me back to well, me.
But then I got this overwhelming memory that impacted me so much I simply went into a trance. I forgot my newly reencountered best friends, the scratchy mattress, this stupid hospital, and most importantly, my condition...
