Neither Bakugo or Shinsou brought up that night to each other in a conversation, but the effects of it were plain to see. After waking up practically wrapped around each other that morning, and agreeing to never speak of that incident again, they had become closer and closer. Not in a 'hug each other every time we see each other and cry every time we say goodbye' kind of way, like Ashido, Kirishima and Kaminari, but more of a 'trust them with everything, including my life' kind of way, a bit like Midoriya and Todoroki. They had decided to keep up with the façade of rivalry at school, and the betting pool was just getting more intense. Momo had bet ten thousand yen that one of them would be expelled by the end of the year, while Todoroki bet twenty thousand yen that they were secretly half-brothers, and the reason for their rivalry stemmed from both wanting to impress their joint father the most. Aoyama had bet a piece of cheese that there would be an epic tale of romance between them, of the enemies to lovers kind. Mineta had almost thrown up just from thinking about two guys in a relationship, Sero had then proceeded to tape Mineta to the ceiling, and Midoriya had started muttering about how 'Kacchan would kill all of us if he found out about this, oh god we're all going to die'. Shinsou found it hilarious.
To Shinsou, it seemed that as each day in the hero course passed, the academic work was becoming harder and harder, as the teachers delved into more and more complex and complicated subjects. This wasn't much of a problem for the top students, such as Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, Iida, Bakugo and Midoriya, but was very challenging for others, such as Kaminari, Mina, Aoyama and Hagakure. Some teachers decided to pair students up for upcoming projects to make sure they had help with any work they might be stuck on, which was very useful if you got a good partner, but went very badly if you got someone you didn't like, such as when Midoriya got paired up with Bakugo due to Midnight wanting some 'drama'.

Shinsou had more or less completely zoned out of his maths class, deciding that the pen marks on the desk from previous students were far more exciting. Someone had drawn an aubergine looking thing on one of the legs, that Shinsou really didn't want to have to look at every day. (a/n: I think an aubergine is an eggplant in America?? Idrk tbh) He was jolted back to the real world by a roll of paper smacking down on his head, hard.
"Ow!" He looked up in surprise, wondering who had hit him.
"I've been trying to get your attention for the past five minutes!" Jiro hissed, "Ectoplasm asked everyone to pass these sheets to the people behind them." She passed him a piece of paper, and looking down he saw it was a list of names; there were two columns of ten and arrows pointing between corresponding pairs.
"Wait.. what's this for again?"
"Seriously? You weren't listening to anything?"
"Ah, well... no, not at all."
She rolled her eyes, well used to him zoning out in school, "You idiot. There's a really hard test coming up, and everyone's been paired up for study partners so no-one falls behind. The pairs are listed on the sheet." Jiro and I have definitely become good friends over the past few weeks, as well as everyone else in our friendship group... it's kinda weird to have so many friends...
"Oh, thank you."
"Pay attention next time, okay?"
"Will do."
Jiro swivelled back around in her chair, and turned to face the front of the class, where Ectoplasm was marking some work at the desk. Everyone seemed to be calling out to their assigned partner in loud whispers, but not getting up from their seats. Shinsou looked down at the sheet and scanned through the list for his name. Oh, there I am. I'm next to... let's see...Ojiro? Isn't that... the boy who ignored me on the first day of school? I feel like I met him somewhere before... the sports festival? That's right.... Wait...I didn't, did I? Oh god, I used my quirk on him...that's why he doesn't like me... oh shit. Maybe I can try and apologise during the partner study work today? Shinsou nodded to himself before stuffing the piece of paper into his bag, along with his school equipment, just as the lunch bell rang.
