After what seemed like forever Hailey pulled back from the hug slightly, looking up at Jay, her arms still wrapped around him. He looked down into her eyes, he could see how all red and puffy they were from where she had been crying and it broke his heart.

She gave him a half-hearted smile and pulled him towards the couch, he happily obliged, letting her lead him. He noticed her wince as she sat down her hand rubbing her right knee, he pulled her into his side.

"What's up with your knee?"

"I think I tackled that guy a little too hard" Jay held back a laugh.

"Yeah, I mean you did kinda just go for it, one second you were running after him next minute you were on top of him."

She laughed at his comment "now I'm paying for it, I-I just got so sucked in, wanting to find Becca, wanting to save her, wanting to be the person for her what no one was for me."

"I know baby I know" he pressed a kiss into her hair "and you did, you saved her" she nodded her eyes filling with tears again.

"B-but the things I was willing to do t-the lines I was willing to cross, what kind of person does that make me?"

"A person with a big heart, a very big heart who has been through so much and who wants to save innocent little girls" the tears fell down her cheeks as she adjusted her position to snuggle into Jay more, wincing as she moved her knee again.

"How bad is it? Your knee?"

"I'm fine I can deal with it."

"Hails..." Jay pushed slightly.

"Okay it hurts really bad, I-I just..."

"I'll go get you something for it" he told her softy and made his way to the medicine cabinet in the kitchen taking out the Tylenol, popping out one for her then filling up a glass of water before making his way back over to her "here" he handed her the pill and she put it in her mouth before taking the water.

While she was taking the medicine Jay went back to the kitchen opening the freezer and pulling out a bag of frozen pea and bringing it back to her to put on her knee. He sat down on the opposite end of the couch to her and patted his legs "put your legs up" he told her.

"Jay, you don't have to- "

"I want to, let me look after you, please" she gave him a smaller smiled and nodded.

"okay" her voice was barely a whisper, Jay wondered how he heard it at all.

She placed the now empty glass on the coffee table in front of the couch then slowly moved her legs over Jays, her face screwing up at the pain in her knee. "I'm gonna put this on your knee now, okay" he warned her knowing that she was in pain, hoping the Tylenol would kick in sooner rather than later.

He placed the bag of pees on her knee and his heart ached as she flinched in pain. She signed and leaned back into the arm of the couch "fuck, it hurts so bad"

With his free hand, he placed it on her calf, his thumb rubbing small circle on it, "the medicine will kick in soon and the peas will help as well, why didn't you mention this earlier?"

"I didn't think too much of it, then climbing that ladder must have hurt it more I think" she told him "And thank you."

"You don't have to thank me Hails, you've taken care of me so many times after I've been hurt, I'm just repaying the favour" she laughed remembering all the times he had been hurt or shot and she had played nurse.

"Hmm I definitely deserve that, you're such a baby when you're injured" she teased.

"I am not" he said pretending to be offended.
