"Rae?"

"Sykkuno?!" She shrieks.

Rae doesn't seem entirely phased by the wheelchair, probably because Corpse must have told her about it yesterday. What does surprise Sykkuno though, is that she leans in to give him a hug. Sykkuno doesn't let people touch him. He's always a loner wanting to sit in the corner. The only people he lets close to him are Toast and Bimbus, and Bimbus is not a person, so that leaves just Toast. Nevertheless, he accepts the hug from Rae. And not that he'll ever admit it, but he felt oddly comforted by the hug.

"How have you been?" She asks.

"Yeah, uh, alright, I guess."

Even though Rae is Corpse's step-sister, they've always had a weird connection. Most of it usually stemmed from wanting to protect Corpse from the world, but they were always quite the good friends. Which is why Sykkuno feels welled up and like he just cannot lie to Rae.

"Sure doesn't look like it," Rae says, always the blunt one.

"Yeah, been sorta shaken up after I met Corpse yesterday." Sykkuno reveals.

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

Anyone would easily tell Sykkuno to not seek refuge in Rae, her having a relation with Corpse. But Sykkuno knows better than anyone that even if Rae is the closest person to Corpse, she'd never tell Corpse the secrets that Sykkuno tells her by confiding in her. She's like a therapist, but without all the weirdness.

"I don't know," he sighs. "It was weird seeing him. Like, I always thought about how everything would be if we ever accidentally see each other and that was nothing like it. I almost expected him to yell at me. But that didn't happen."

"You know," Rae starts, staring at her kid and Bimbus who are now playing together, "Corpse has had a lot to deal with over the last few years. And I wouldn't say I blame you for that, but that's exactly what I do."

Sykkuno snorts at that. She continues.

"But yesterday when he settled on his bed after coming home and cried his eyes out, I knew something was up. And when he told me about the whole ordeal, I understood your point of view a little bit. I mean, I still blame you for being a complete arsehole to my brother, but now I feel a little bit insensitive."

"You don't have to me pity me-"

"I'm not pitying you. I just understand you better now."

Sykkuno looks away. His eyes start watering.

"Corpse wants a reasoning from you, for what you did. And you don't have one. That hurts him more. Corpse is a sensitive one, you know that. It has left him broken for a lifetime. And you know what's the most fucked up thing? He blames himself for it. He thinks he was the one who fucked it up. He was the one who wasn't good enough."

"He was perfect." Sykkuno's voice cracks halfway.

"He doesn't know that, Sykkuno." Rae shakes her head. "He has spent the last few years beating himself up about all the supposed mistakes that he did. He's still a kid at heart, you know?"

Sykkuno is proper crying now.

"I don't know why I did it, Rae."

"No one does. But, you've got a second chance now. And I'm not saying that Corpse's still not over you, or that he's still in love with you or whatever because that is not my place to say. What I can confirm though, is that you still aren't over him."
