Today was Haknyeon's boyfriend's birthday. It was the first birthday that they would be spending together since they got together. And Haknyeon couldn't be any more excited for it.
He wanted to make his boyfriend's first birthday with him to be memorable. Something they would both treasure. So he called for all the help he could get, Sunwoo's family, his friends, even a few of his classmates from university. He swore them all to secrecy, as he wanted it to be a surprise.
He'd spend weeks, days and nights trying to make this a very special day. And today he was finally able to make it happen.
He'd even gotten some of their closest friends to help him set the whole thing up.
Sunwoo had always taken care of Haknyeon, boyfriends or not. He was extremely selfless when it came to Haknyeon, and Haknyeon just wanted to return the favor.
That day Haknyeon had gotten Eric, Sunwoo's best friend, to get him out of his apartment for dinner to give Haknyeon a few hours to set up.
"Hak, where do you want these?" Jacob, another close friend of theirs, asked. He was holding the flower arrangement Haknyeon had ordered the day before. It was made with many different flowers, but the two main events were the peach blossoms, which was Sunwoo's birth flower, and traditional red roses meaning love.
"You can set them by the big candles, I'm going to hand them to him anyway." Haknyeon answered, piping out the frosting onto the cake he had baked for Sunwoo.
He knew it would have just been easier to buy the cake instead of making it, but Sunwoo always went on about how Haknyeons baking was much better than the bakeries around town. And since it was Sunwoo's day, he wanted to make sure he loved everything about it.
That and the fact that he just had better calligraphy when it came to cakes.
"I wish Kevin would do something like this for me. Sunwoo's one lucky guy." Jacob swooned over the set up on the counter.
"Hey! I do nice things for you." Kevin spoke up, popping his head out from behind the bunch of balloons he was trying to sort.
"For my birthday you cut out 'I love you' on a cereal box and put it in a bag."
"I thought you loved cereal." Kevin frowned in confusion.
"It was a box we already had." Jacob tsked.
"Can you guys fight over how unromantic Kevin is later, Eric just texted me. They'll be here in half an hour." Haknyeon interrupted, putting down the piping bag to observe his work.
Jacob and Kevin quit their little squabble and got back to work.
Twenty minutes later they were finally finished setting up and it was time for them to go.
"Good luck, Hak! He's gonna love it." Jacob offered his most cheerful smile.
Haknyeon sighed nervously. "I really hope so. Thanks again for helping me set up."
Kevin shouted something about getting laid before Jacob shoved him out the door, apologizing briefly for his immature boyfriend's behavior.
"Now we wait." Haknyeon said quietly to himself.
Baby bitch:
We're five minutes out.Haknyeon probably read Eric's text like ten times before double checking that everything was perfect.
Sunwoo was very special to Haknyeon, they'd been friends for nearly six years now. Haknyeons been in love with him for three. The day he learned that his feelings were returned was probably the best day of his life.
