"𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞."
𝐘𝐔𝐊𝐈 was used to being alone. It was always just herself she could rely on, anyway. Besides, who needed protection and help when you were a powerful wind spirit thousands of years old. But it was...a bit lonely, sometimes. Only sometimes.
Solitude was a friend she could trust. Unlike some people she used to know.
The female stood up from the large stone she was resting on, and stretched her aching limbs. There were rumors of a human girl entering the spirit world, and Yuki had nothing else to do but visit the famed spirit bath house run by the old witch Yubaba, an old friend of her's.
-
Of course, it started raining just as she reached the bridge. Luckily for Yuki, she wasn't a descendent of Tsukuyomi for nothing. She snapped her fingers, creating an umbrella of warm air around her. Those around her stared in awe at the beautiful female, wearing a flowing white robe that floated behind her. Not even droplets of water could touch her, for she was Tsukuyomi no Mikoto's only descendent, Yukikazenushi.
"A special guest is here!" A frog floating inside a bubble cried out when Yuki reached the entrance. "Shut up." The female reached out with a slender finger and popped the bubble, watching coldly as the creature fell down with a splat.
She ignored his cries of pain and entered the bath house, gazing around at the brightly lit and busy inside. "Madam. Would you like to bathe immediately, or will you be staying with us for a while?" A worker asked.
"I'd like a room. Thank you. One that is preferably in a quiet place." She took the wooden tag given and lazily dropped a few gold coins onto the counter, and left. "B-but madam! This is twice as much as the cost-" "Keep the change."
-
The halls of the upstairs area was silent, just the way Yuki liked it. Torches casted a warm glow onto the walls and ground. This was the top floor, where only the most important guests could stay. When she arrived at her room, she stepped in, smiling in satisfaction at the spaciousness and view. As expected of Yubaba, this bath house was excellent.
She gazed around one more time, and nodded, before walking out again. She was hungry. And that human girl was still yet to be seen.
The dining area was on the middle floor. Yuki sniffed the air, sighing at the delicious aroma of food, and sped up her walking. However, just as she was about to turn the corner, she bumped into another figure. Yuki didn't even budge, but the one who was unfortunate enough to crash fell down onto the wooden ground.
Ah. The delicious smell was suddenly invaded by the smell of something else...the disgusting odor of humans.
"Watch where you're going, girl."
The brown haired female immediately stood back up and bowed once, apologizing profusely.
"You must be the human everyone is talking about." Yuki spoke coldly, but not unkindly. "What is your name?" She was as calm as untouched snow.
Chihiro, on the other hand, was stammering and desperately trying to string words into sentences. "M-me? U-um...Sen, ma'am." This beautiful and pale female, who was only a bit taller than her, held an aura of regal elegance and grace incomparable to any. It was intimidating, to say the least.
"Sen? Well." Yuki stepped closer, reaching out and patting down the trembling girl's cleaning uniform. She straightened the standard kimono, clicking her tongue at the distasteful salmon pink. "I would like if you could serve as my helper toda-"
Suddenly, the spirit was interrupted by hurried steps, and the appearance of a seemingly boy like spirit. He seemed familiar to Yuki, but she was more annoyed by the interruption than the itching and persistent feeling of deja vu.
"I, Haku, apologize on behalf of this girl for whatever she did." The spirit bowed as well, forcefully making Chihiro bow again with him.
"Hm. Sen has done nothing wrong, I was simply asking is she could help me today, with my bath."
Haku was also intimidated slightly by Yuki, but he instead asked- "Sen, ma'am? Are you sure?"
Yuki raised an eyebrow at the wavered uncertainty in his tone. "Why of course. She seems quite...capable."
"Er...if it is fine with you, ma'am, I could be the helper instead. Sen is new, and so she doesn't quite understand the ways of the bath house-"
"I do appreciate your concern, but I would still like to have the girl help me. I do not mistake in my choices."
Haku had no choice but to fold, and he reluctantly nodded. "Well, ma'am, let me lead you to the dining hall."
