TIMESKIP: Few Minutes After The Bell Rang
As students began to fill in, I did my routine of scanning heads and praying Jules was coming today. Jules is my best friend and the only one besides my aunt and cousin that knows about my brother. She is my entire support system and I love her to bits. When I saw her enter and walk to her seat next to me, I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and waved. "Sup Mari! I brought you lunch today!!" She sang with pride before handing me a bag with two containers in it this is why I can call you my best friend I thought to myself. She was always like this, perceptive as hell and it became a routine that she brings me lunch or I won't eat since I can't afford to buy lunch anymore. My brother would try to kill me if I took one penny from the money our parents send us monthly. I clear my head focus on Mr. Danivel up front.
TIMESKIP: Near The End Of Class
Five minutes til second period dammit I cursed silently. Next period is Mrs. Cunningham's English class with my cousin Daxon and his bitchy friends
I take a deep breath and refocus only to realize people were packing up. I began to follow suit until Mr. Danivel said to stay after class. I must admit that I was a little nervous but I just sat there waiting
for everyone else to leave once everyone was gone Mr. Danivel went into his desk and pulled out a small stack of papers and signaled me to come to his desk. He handed me the small stack of papers and began speaking. " Marianna you are a very talent young individual so I wanted to pull you aside and show you this opportunity " he continues " In your hand is the scholarship application for Anchor Academy, once every two years the school picks five incredible students from across the country to attend and I think you should at least apply!! " he becomes ecstatic as he speaks " All of your work in your portfolio leaves me in tears and I truly think you have what it takes! I'll help you fill it out if need be and since you're a special case I got you permission to sign off on your own instead of having your parents do it" He calms himself and smiles. I know that school because I dreamed of going there for years! Despite my good judgement I said I would not missed this opportunity and would appreciate the help. He told me to come back at lunch to start working on it. I left with a smile on my face feeling like I could take on the world for once
What I didn't know was that my life was about to get even more nightmarish and unbearable
