Don't. Make. Them. Studder. All. The. Time. It's okay if you do it a little bit, but all the time and doesn't have a good reason to studder is quite frustrating.
Make them semi-normal. Just don't make them a fox angel dog wolf demon cat penguin hybrid. They can have skills, but don't make them so bloody over powered.
Don't make them have a lot of mental illnesses without looking up how others act when having that mental illness. It's VERY harmful.
