Putting my hands on his face, they moved to his hair, my fingertips moving over his light brown locks before I looked into his eyes as I brought my hands back to his face. Ubbe watched me as I pulled him down to me before I pressed my lips against his. It was a sweet, short kiss before I pulled back and looked at him with a sad look.
"Don't cry," he said as he wiped the tears that started to fall from my eyes. "I'll be back," he assured me as he put his hands on my growing stomach. "When I come home, we're going to be wed."
I smiled at his words as I stared at him. "Really?" I was surprised by his words, sure we had been in some kind of relationship for years now and I had fallen pregnant, but, I never expected marriage.
Ubbe reached for my hands, he took them from his face before holding my hands tightly as we stood extremely close. "I would never lie to you, Storm." Ubbe had always been kind and loving towards me. The two of us shared something special and bringing a baby into our lives would only show everyone we were serious. "When I return, you won't need to lift a finger."
In that moment, I knew he was telling the truth. He had not lied to me once before and I didn't expect it to start now. "I love you," I told him as I squeezed his hands with my own.
He nodded at me, "And I love you." He pressed a kiss to my forehead as he let my hands go. "I've asked Lagertha to keep an eye on you whilst I am gone. I know she will look after you."
"Thank you," I said, I knew I didn't need someone keeping an eye on me but he'd done it out of love. "I'm going to go now," I told him, he knew I could never watch him go.
Ubbe cradled my face with his hands before he kissed me on the lips. "I'll be home before you know it." I smiled at his words before he let me go.
I was slow to walk away, turning to look at him as I did only to see him still standing there watching me, a grin on his lips.
