"Mom this isn't fair!" Cam shouted, "Dad tell her she isn't being fair."
Maya and Cam were currently shouting at each other about some boy Cam wanted to go out with. Cam wanted to date some boy who was a known trouble maker at her school and Maya and I both disapproved.
Both Maya and Cam stared at me waiting for me to defend either one of them.
"You are not allowed to go out with him," Maya replied back.
"You won't let me go out with him just cause he has been in detention a hand full of times."
"A hand full of times! Try 36 times in one trimester. He's also been suspended two times this year."
"So?"
"It's December!"
"Your a life ruiner! I bet Riley doesn't do this to Angela."
"Riley is not your mother," Maya shouted.
"I wish she was my mother," Cam yelled.
I stood up and walked over to Maya and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Okay that's enough. Cam go to your room," I said.
Cam ran over to the stairs and stomped up them.
"I hate you!" Cam yelled, before slamming her door shut.
Maya sat down in the chair closest to her and drank her tea slowly. I walked over behind her and rubbed her shoulders.
"You know she didn't mean that," I reassured her.
"Just because she doesn't mean it doesn't mean it hurts any less," Maya mumbled.
"Don't worry I love you."
"I love you too."
