Living with Levi Ackerman proved to be more difficult than you imagined.

It had been nearly a week since the two of you started your temporary residence in the Airbnb that Erwin booked. It was decided that it would be more beneficial to have an actual kitchen and living room space, so the hotel idea was trashed and this seemed to be the best option.

You hadn't spent too much time with Levi, surprisingly, considering the amount of time you had been spending cooped up in your temporary room working on assignments. You had let them build up for a while, being busy with stuff like hanging out with your friends, smoking, and the occasional evasion of near-death experiences. With the proximity to the university, you had Levi drive you to classes and pick you up later, spending most of your time on campus otherwise in order to remain safe on school grounds. You knew Levi was busy too; although not working at the bar, for the time being, he spent hours a day on his laptop trying to investigate both Kenny and Rod Reiss and whoever else may have been involved with them. It was pretty fruitless from what you heard, occasionally passing by the Ackerman room to hear the sound of angry groaning. He was also on the phone with Erwin and Hange quite often as well. The two of you were living nearly separate lives just a few feet away from each other while simultaneously feeling the throngs of romantic and sexual tension reverberating through every room in the apartment

It was weird. To say the least.

When Levi picked you up that Tuesday following your lecture, he seemed ridiculously on edge. While the car ride only lasted a few minutes, the uncomfortable silence and suffocation you felt in the car made it feel like forever. He was gripping the steering wheel with whitened knuckles, veins in his inked arms protruding unnervingly. You hesitated on putting a hand on him but did so anyway. He flinched violently at your touch, relaxing visibly almost immediately after once he realized it was only you.

"Jesus Christ, Levi. You okay?"

"Fine. Just-- can we just talk back at the apartment?" You nodded, settling back in the passenger's seat with your brows drawn in.

The walk into the building was silent, Levi's firm grip around your wrist never letting up. As soon as you got in the apartment, you took a rigid seat on the couch across from him.

"So, uh, what's up?"

He smoothed his hair back, sliding a leg up next to him. "Went to the grocery store. Was almost certain that I saw Kenny," you let out a quiet 'oh shit,' "when I was grabbing something off a shelf. His fucking smirk is unmistakable. So either he's playing with us again and waiting to strike or I'm seeing things, but my intuition is almost never wrong."

"Shit, Levi. That store is close, too. Did you talk to Erwin today?" you asked. He tensed, pushing his tongue into his cheek.

"Yes. And he offered me an idea for a plan. One I didn't like."

"What was it?"

Levi sighed. "It involves you. That's why... I don't like it."

You couldn't help your blush. Curse stupid girl hormones in the worst moments. "Then I want to know. I trust Erwin. I know you do, too. I know you know he's right in whatever he says."

A beat of silence. "...He wants to use you as bait. He thinks it's our most viable option in catching Kenny off guard."

Okay. Erwin was crazy.
