Rylan's POV:

The sunlight peeked through the blinds, abruptly waking me up. I groaned, I must have forgotten to close them last night. Might as well close them now. But as I sat up I took in my surroundings and the bandage on my head as well as the cast and boot on foot. Oh yea. Suicide went wrong... Lovely, now I'm forced to go home to that son of a bitch I have to call my father.

Suddenly a doctor walked in wearing an overly joyous expression on his face for being so early. Well I assumed it was early. I glanced at my phone on the bedside table and groaned again. It was 6 a.m. It isn't a school day so I shouldn't be up this early. The doctor cleared his throat, obviously wanting my attention, so I turned to him and rubbed my eyes, hoping it would wake me up a tad bit. No luck. The doctor smiled and read over his clip board before speaking.

"Ah! Ms. Peterson is it? Sorry to have to bother you so early. But the sooner we get these tests done, the sooner you can go home!" I sighed and nodded, looking out the window. I really don't want to go home. That's the LAST place I want to return to, school being the other environment I wanted to avoid. I turned back to the doctor who quickly wrote something down on his clipboard and sat in the chair beside my bed and pulled out his small flashlight. I sat up, knowing what he was about to do. When I was comfortably sat up he shined the bright light into both of my eyes and nodded before writing on his clipboard again. He then proceeded to pull out his little mini hammer tool and lightly tapped my knee. I saw him hit my knee but didn't feel it until a good 30 seconds after he hit it. Great. My nerves were damaged. He sighed and wrote on his clipboard again. He then looked up at me and smiled.

"I'm going to ask you a few questions, to test your memory." I nodded, allowing him to begin "Can you tell me your full name? First, middle, and last name please." I rolled my eyes and nodded.

"Rylan Marie Peterson" I replied confidently. The doctor gave me an approving nod and scribbled onto the clipboard again.

"Do you know what today is?" he asked slowly, I guess hoping for the best.

"Saturday, December 16th today's my mom's birthday..." I sighed at the memory of my mom and stared down at my hands.

"Oh, well don't worry! You'll be leaving in no time so you can go celebrate with her!" if only that were true. Instead I nodded slightly and waited for him to continue "Where do you live, Ms. Peterson?" hell. I live in hell. Any more unnecessary questions doctor?

"New York, New York" I replied instead, with a hint of annoyance dripping off my tongue. I heard some scribbles before he spoke again

"What year is it?" Easy! I got this! I nodded my head in agreement before looking up at the doctor with a weak smile

"2012. My graduating year is next year, SO EXCITING!" I felt confident with my answer, and the doctor seemed to boost my confidence by nodding and scribbling on the clipboard again. I took the chance to glance at my phone again. Wow! It was already 7:55. When I turned back to the doctor he was already walking towards the door.

"Wait! Doctor! When do I get to leave?" I quickly asked. The doctor turned to me and smiled before looking through the papers on his clipboard.

"Ah! Here it is!" he tapped on the sheet he was looking at then smiled up at me. "It says here, you'll be released at 8:30. So in about 35 minutes it seems." I smiled and nodded as I watched him walk out of the bedroom door, only to be replace by the blonde superstar who brought me here last night. I smiled and nodded to the seat beside my bed that the doctor was just sitting in. He smiled and walked over to the chair, gripping the back of it and staring into the seat. Awwww! How cute! He was nervous! What was there to be nervous about though? He cleared his throat and licked his lips before speaking
