The Art of Pretending

Chapter Two

Blair POV.

    As we walk into school, I keep note of all the different looks people are giving me. Disgust and jealousy from girls. Desire and confusion from guys. I was pretty before but now I was a stunning. Stunning and bored.

   "Try hard" I heard a girl mumbled when I walked by. She looks down quickly after I meet her eyes and shoot her a wink.

    "I don't like that people are looking" Kate mumbled.

   "People always look, Kate" Natalie rolled her eyes. "You're just jealous they are looking at Blair and not you". Kate scoffs and walks away to her locker. Luckily Natalie's and my locker are right next to each other.

   "I am so over Kate's negativity and attitude" Natalie said opening her locker.

   "Maybe she's been having a rough morning" I replied opening mine.

  "Doesn't matter what kind of morning she's having, she can't take it out on you". Before I can reply, there is yelling in the halls. Here we go again... I turn my head to see the schools "queen bee and king". Ashlyn Sparks and Grayson Heart.

"My money is on them having another public breakup" I whispered to Natalie. They have these a lot, public breakups and normal breakups. They were a gorgeous couple though. Ashlyn had long brown hair and icy blue eyes. Grayson also had brown hair but instead of icy blue eyes his were like the world. Blue and green, absolutely breathtaking.

His hair wasn't short it wasn't long, it was perfect. The ends of his hair curled. They were no doubt gorgeous together. Their love is wynorrific, meaning both beautiful and horrible at the same time. Like a lightning storm, beautifully dangerous.

And that was Grayson and Ashlyn, a beautiful couple but very toxic.

"We are done Ashlyn!" Grayson yelled.

"The hell we are" she scoffed back. "You don't get to break up with me". This was new, Grayson had never broken up with Ashlyn before. It is always Ashlyn breaking up with him, for whatever reason she could come up with. Mostly she did it when she was bored, or met a new guy.

"I'm serious" he said.

"Ok" she laughed. "You're just going to come crawling and begging for me back, like you always do.

"Not this time" he spat and walked away. Watching them is like watching a soap opera. Ashlyn screamed and stormed away, her two friends running after her.

Ashlyn was Grayson's first everything. They've been on and off since freshman year. They were in love but toxic. Their first breakup happened when Grayson found out Ashlyn lied to him about him being her first. Oof, I know. But somehow Ashlyn turned it on him, then broke up with him for being upset.

Their first breakup lasted for 2 months. They would sleep with a bunch of people to make each other jealous, get back together, break up again, sleep with more people, and repeat. A modern day love story. I laughed.

   "They should really join the drama club" Natalie said turning back around and laughing.

   "I'd give it five minutes before Ashlyn would scare the whole crew away."I replied. My eyes scan the hallway and widen when I see whose approaching us. "Natalie, you might want to start running".

   "Why?" Her eyes roll when she sees who's approaching. "Don't let him talk to me" she pleaded, and turned back around putting her head in her locker. My eyes are met with a pair of brown ones.

   "Blair" he greeted me.

   "Cock sucker" I smiled back. It was Zach Willis, Natalie's on again off again boyfriend. Right now, off again. I do like the guy to be honest, I just have to pretend I don't since him and Natalie are currently broken up.
