Jotaro felt tired, his entire body in pain. The battle against DIO and the Joestar bloodline was finally over, a century of fighting settled. Jotaro and Joseph in one helicopter, Kakyoin, Avdol, and Polnareff in another.
A Speedwagon Foundation doctor was treating Jotaro's injuries. There were more of them, treating Joseph with first-aid kits they had with them.
'Kakyoin...Avdol.' Jotaro thought about them for a moment, their condition being the worst of all. Jotaro closed his eyes, tired. The vision of Kakyoin on the damaged water tower, nearly dead, struggling to stay alive.
Jotaro's eyes shot wide open. He balled his hand into a fist out of fury and rammed his hand down on his seat, startling the doctor.
"Mr. Kujo, Please stay still."
He looked up with his expression empty. "They'll be okay, right?" Jotaro asked him, looking at him dead in the eyes, "Avdol and Kakyoin?"
The door seemed conflicted, not knowing how to answer his question. "It's impossible to guarantee that at the moment. Please stay still."
Jotaro sighed, "Good grief."
[.....]
The doctors fixed Jotaro's broken bones within the first hour he arrived. He was unaware of the time as many hours passed. During those hours, his anxiety wouldn't leave him be. His friends were in hospital beds, a few between life and death. It scared him.
There was a knock at the door. It opened softly with a click, "Jotaro Kujo?" It was a kind-looking nurse.
"Ah! Stay where you are," She removed his IV. "You are free to leave along with Joseph and Polnareff. Oh, and Kakyoin wishes to see you."
Jotaro nodded and stood up quickly. Following the nurse, they walked down the hallway and into an elevator. They were alone. "Kakyoin is okay, right?" Jotaro asked immediately.
She nodded, "He's doing great. He woke up from surgery if you wish to talk to him."
"I do," Jotaro answered quickly.
She smiled, "He has been asking to talk to you."
Jotaro stared down at the floor. Nervousness, excitement, and fear mixed into one. The nurse noticed. "Hey now, Kakyoin is okay. He will survive, Him and Avdol. He just needs time to heal, the most time out of all of you." She called. "Excuse me, call me Lily." She smiled and clicked her pen. "I've been assigned to take care of Kakyoin full time. Think of me as his head nurse or caretaker if you will."
The elevator stopped. Lily led the way to a room with a nameplate slid on. It reads: Noriaki Kakyoin. Lily grabbed the doorknob. She knocked twice and opened it.
Kakyoin's bed was up at an angle, sitting upright. A blanket hid Kakyoin's stomach. Kakyoin's eyes glanced over at Jotaro. He smiled at Jotaro's arrival.
Jotaro hesitantly walked over. "Thank you. Without you, I don't think we would have ever been able to defeat DIO."
Kakyoin kept his smile, "It was the only thing I could think of..." His voice went quieter as he could hardly speak. "Although, I didn't get to defeat him myself." He let out a small laugh, "I got my revenge."
Jotaro's tone went from his usual to concerned, "Are you okay?"
"Everything hurts." He sighed. He glazed over at Jotaro, "I'll be fine. I just need to get through a few surgeries. The doctors say I may have to relearn how to walk again."
'Relearn to walk?' Jotaro thought for a moment. It could be possible he would have to. Jotaro decided to leave him be and let him rest, "Just don't do anything crazy. I'll see you later." Jotaro said, walking out.
Kakyoin waved, "I'll see you."
Jotaro hummed as he went out the door, suddenly not having the energy to visit Avdol. He sighed, craving for a smoke. Lily came out of Kakyoin's room with him.
"Do you want to see Avdol as well?"
Jotaro nodded, "Yeah."
Lily led him down the hall. She stopped the door with Avdol's name on the door. Again, Lily knocked twice on the door before opening it.
Avdol was sitting upright, a bit stressed. He noticed Jotaro the moment he and Lily walked inside. "Hello, Jotaro, Nurse Lily." His arms were removed from the elbow down, replaced with artificial ones. He was looking for any malfunction.
"Hey," Jotaro replied. "Are you doing okay?"
"I'm just fine. What about the others?"
"Kakyoin and Polnareff are going to relearn how to walk."
Avdol looked slightly surprised, sighing. "I had feared he would die. But, I'm surprised we all lived, truly something amazing. He is a strong one." He smiled, "How is he? Are you aware?"
"He's in pain."
Avdol hummed, "He must be." He looked out the window, "It's getting rather late. Oh, and Jotaro, do you know when you are going back home to Japan?"
Jotaro thought for a moment, forgetting he was still in the Middle East. He would have to go home eventually. "I don't know. It won't be long before I go. I'll see you later." Jotaro walked out. Lily followed. She closed the door for him.
"Jotaro, is anyone available to pick you up, Or do you plan to stay the night here?"
Jotaro sighed, "I'm not sure. Let me ask him. Do you know where Joseph is?"
As if on cue, Joseph came running over. "Jotaro! It's okay for you and me to leave tonight. We'll find a hotel and fly to Japan tomorrow."
"What about the others?" Jotaro asked him.
Joseph smiled, "Avdol has requested to stay here, and Polnareff will be staying the night. Kakyoin will be transferred to a hospital in Japan tomorrow."
They left the hospital. Joseph called for a taxi. Soon enough, one drove by. Joseph started to give out directions as soon as they got inside. Jotaro looked out the window.
[.....]
A nurse knocked before opening the door, "Kakyoin!" She excitedly spoke, "Good news, We can get you to a hospital in Japan. You'll be flying there tomorrow morning." She looked at her watch, putting something into his IV, "Or even later tonight."
Kakyoin slightly nodded. He was barely able to focus on anything for a second due to the pain. Kakyoin closed his eyes, smiling a bit, "JoJo."
The nurse turned, "JoJo? Oh, him." She looked at him mischievously. A huge smile on her face. It seemed she was one for romance, "Kakyoin?"
He opened his eyes rather annoyed, looking at her now.
She changed the topic quickly, "Are you feeling all right? Are the painkillers working?"
Kakyoin smiled, "Yeah." It wasn't exactly a lie.
She smiled as she talked, "Is there anything I can do for you?"
"I want to see him again," Kakyoin blurted out. He was getting more tired now, slowly falling back asleep.
"Him?" She pondered in thought. "This Jotaro person, right?"
Kakyoin hummed a 'yes' before falling asleep again.
Another nurse came in. "Miss Lily, the helicopter is ready to leave at any minute! Is Kakyoin ready?"
She nodded. She and other doctors were taking Kakyoin out of his room and moving it up to the rooftop, where he will fly to Japan.
"Miss Lily! I ask that you assist Kakyoin and come with him on his flight to Japan!" It was her boss. They whispered, "This is your chance to prove yourself. Don't disappoint me."
