5.)

It’s been two weeks into Kakyoin’s recovery. He was doing and recovering well. It’s been a week since he started relearning how to walk. He could now walk on his own, with the help of crunches and other equipment.

Kakyoin didn’t have to go until later that day, so Jotaro decided to visit him a bit earlier. Jotaro walked in to see Kakyoin reading the murder mystery novel. He waved. He seemed more shy than usual.

“Hey, Jotaro.”

“Hm?”

Kakyoin held up the tag from the bouquet of roses from earlier. “To: Kakyoin, from: Jotaro”

“What about it?”

“What were the roses for?”

“Huh?”

“You lied. It wasn’t from Holly. More importantly, who gives roses as a get-well gift? You just don’t send roses to just anyone.”

Jotaro furrowed his eyebrows, “Hey-”

Lily sighed. “Just say it, Jotaro. You like him, don’t you?”

Jotaro pulled his hat down out of embarrassment. “What?” Jotaro had only realized his feelings shortly after the trip. But what else could those feelings mean?

Kakyoin grinned and grabbed Jotaro’s hand, making him jump. Jotaro only stared at it, sighed, and squeezed his hand. “Fine.” Jotaro wrapped an arm around him. Kakyoin looked bewildered and confused, but he closed his eyes and smiled.  He hugged him back.

Lily looked like she was about to burst with happiness. She smiled. “I knew it.”

[.....]

Jotaro got home after the visit. He pulled out homework and began to work on it. But not long after, the phone rings. It was from the Speedwagon Foundation. “Hello?”

“Is this Jotaro Kujo?” The voice was familiar, but Jotaro couldn’t tell who it was. They were crying.

“Yes.”

“Could you come by?” Jotaro figured out who was calling. It was Lily, “Kakyoin wants to see you.”

“What’s going on?” He quickly grabbed his coat, “I’m coming over there!” Jotaro ran out the door, hanging up immediately after. He started sprinting to the hospital, barely dodging those on the sidewalk.

He made it quickly, soaked from the rain. He didn’t stop to dry his shoes at the entrance. He didn’t have time. He didn’t even check to see where Kakyoin was. He went into the elevator and quickly pressed the button to Kakyoin’s floor.

When he got there, Lily was out in the hallway, stressed. She quickly turned as she saw Jotaro running towards her, “Jotaro-”

He interrupted her, “What’s going on?”

“Kakyoin was doing well with walking. So, after you left, I decided to let him practice on the stairs. He fell going up, undoing the stitches on his stomach, ripping them! We had to keep him from spilling blood across the floor!”

Jotaro felt his body freeze with adrenaline, “Will he make it through the night?”

Lily looked conflicted. The only thing she could say was, “I’m sorry… I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry-”
