Izuku walked along the hallway, peering at the signs above the doors. He was searching the massive school for class 1A, but hadn't been successful thus far.
Izuku approached the next door, looking up at the sign high on the wall.
Classroom 1A.
Izuku grinned, reaching for the handle and pushing the door open."Take your feet off the desk this instant! It is extremely disrespectful to both the school and the people who made the desk!" The boy who interrupted Present Mic complained.
The perpetrator of this terrible act of villainy was of course, Bakugo.
"What school are you from you side character? Is that where you got the stick up your ass?" He asked.
The boy sighed, putting a hand to his chest.
"I am Tenya Iida of Somei private academy. I implore you to take your feet off the desk!"
"Somei? So you're done kind of damn elite? I'll have fun crushing you.."
Iida recoiled in shock.
"Crushing?? Are you sure you want to be a hero?"
Izuku sighed in exasperation, gaining their attention.
"If you two are going to go at it.. can you maybe.. quiet down?" He asked.
Iida nodded vigorously, clamping his jaw shut, physically restraining himself from apologizing.
Bakugo scoffed, but looked away, taking his feet off the desk once Iida got off his case.
Izuku sat down behind the blonde just as a yellow caterpillar slunk into the room, seemingly surprised.
"You're already quiet.. I'm impressed. My name is Shota Aizawa, I'm your homeroom teacher. Put your PE uniforms on and head outside, to the back of the school. You have five minutes, don't be late or you're expelled."
Danger Sense tingled in the back of Izuku's mind. This guy wasn't kidding around.
Izuku got changed and arrived outside 3 minutes after Aizawa's warning. Danger Sense had been getting progressively stronger in the back of Izuku's mind, warning him of the imminent expulsion.
"Three minutes. Seems you're the rational one." Aizawa commented.
Izuku laughed.
"Not in the least sir. I was just fast because my danger Sense wouldn't stop bugging me about the expulsion threat."
Aizawa seemed interested in the last statement but kept quiet.
The rest of the class quickly walked onto the field. Iida was the last out and made the five minute mark by seconds.
"You're all here on time. Good. Now, we'll be doing a quirk assessment test this morning. You will be redoing your general fitness tests, but can use your quirks during them this time. Midoriya, you scored highest on the entrance exams, what was your furthest ball throw in middle school?" Aizawa asked.
Izuku thought for a moment.
"Around.. 70 meters or so sir."
Aizawa nodded.
"Alright, step into the circle and throw the ball. Anything goes, just don't leave the circle."
Izuku took the ball from Aizawa and stepped into the small circle in the grass. He charged One for All throughout his body and summoned a Blackwhip, curling the end around the ball.
He spun the tendril around in an arc, every rotation gaining momentum until he made the appendage vanish, sending the ball skyrocketing into the distance.
He only used 20 percent, hiding his true, recognisable strength.
Aizawa turned the scoring tablet to the class, revealing the distance thrown.
"As you can see, you'll be getting some impressive results."
"4,552 meters? That's insane!" A red haired boy said.
"We get to use our quirks as much as we want? Awesome!" The boy with weird elbows said.
"This looks like fun!" The pink girl said.
That last one ticked Aizawa off the most. Danger Sense suddenly flared up, indicating they would be getting another expulsion threat.
"Fun? You think hero work is all fun and games? Alright then, if you want to have fun.. whoever comes in last place overall will be expelled from the hero course, effective immediately."
There were several cries of protest from most of the class. Shoto Todoroki seemed indifferent, but he seemed indifferent about most things. The other recommendation student, Momo Yayorozu, didn't look like she believed Aizawa. Izuku knew they couldn't do anything about his decision.
Izuku worked his way through the tests with little difficulty. He stuck to 20 percent the whole way through, not wanting to reveal his quirk's true nature. Unfortunately, Aizawa noticed he was limiting himself.
"Midoriya, come take the ball throw again. We hadn't properly started the tests, so the machines didn't note down your score. Make sure you go all out."
Danger Sense got to work once again, but Izuku ignored the buzz in his mind.
He picked up the ball and summoned the Blackwhip again, curling it around the ball in his hand.
Izuku pulled his arm back and-
They were gone, gone, gone.
All Might's comforting presence, the other predecessors' reassuring aura was gone.
Izuku dropped the ball. When had he released Blackwhip? What happened to the past users? What happened to his Master's shade? Where was One for All?
Izuku began to panic, taking quick gasps of air.
It had been entrusted to him. The sacred duty, the most powerful quirk in existence, what happened? Why couldn't he call on it? Where-?
The predecessors came back, their presence twice as strong as before. He could feel the phantom hands touching his shoulders, his arms, his head.
Izuku spun around, coming face to face with a concerned, guilty looking Aizawa.
"Midoriya, are you okay? I apologize, I didn't think through using Erasure on an accumulation quirk. Are you hurt?" He asked.
Izuku shook his head, calming his pounding heart.
"I'm okay sir. It was just a shock. Why did you erase my quirk?" He asked.
Aizawa regained his grumpy exterior, but Izuku had already seen through it.
"You're limiting yourself. I saw what you did to the zero pointer, it was almost twice as powerful as what you've been doing today. I want you to go all out."
Izuku cursed himself internally for using 30 percent at the exam, but nodded at his teacher.
"Sorry sir, using that much energy and having it flood through my muscles strains them. I get really tired really quickly." He lied, hoping his teacher would buy it.
Aizawa did, but as this was the last test Izuku was expected to go 'all out'.
Izuku stepped back into the circle and called on One for All and Blackwhip.
*One for All, Full Cowling... 30 Percent!*
Izuku launched the ball into the distance, barely breaking a sweat. Aizawa glanced down at his tablet.
"8,422 meters. You almost doubled your score. I'm impressed." Aizawa grinned.
