Zayn

Ariana is the one who pulls out of the hug first. ‘I have to prepare for my dance,’ she says. ‘I’m sure you will be doing great,’ I respond with a smile. ‘Thanks Zayn, but you and your friends are going to win,’ she says with a supportive smile. She walks away and I stare at her with a smile on my own face. That smile doesn’t last long cause a few seconds later I get slammed into the lockers. He looks so angry and I get scared. ‘HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY HER?! HOW MUCH?!’ he yells at me. ‘N-Nothing,’ I stutter. ‘I know she gave you your bracelet back,’ he sneers. ‘She had every right to, it’s mine!’ I respond back. ‘If it wasn’t for your bracelet, she wouldn’t have noticed you. You would still be a nobody to her! I can’t believe I just did you a favor but don’t worry, I’ll make sure you become a nobody to her again,’ Jai says with an evil smirk. ‘Why? Why would you do this?’ I whimper looking up at him.

Don’t you understand? I love her too and I want her all to myself. I can’t have a nerd like you standing in my way,’ he hisses at me. ‘W-What m-makes y-you s-so s-sure?’ I ask stuttering and the first few tears slip out of my eyes. Jai starts to laugh and I look at him with tears sliding down my face. ‘You don’t stand a chance against her! You don’t have a chance with her! You’re one of the biggest nerds in this school while she is the most popular girl in school. She didn’t even notice you before this bracelet incident and you have loved her since the 7th grade! Doesn’t that tell you anything? You will never ever have a chance with her! You’re way out of her league!’ Jai tells me with an evil smirk on his face. ‘Stop it! STOP IT!’ I scream at him. ‘What is It Zayn? Can’t handle the truth? I’m just telling the truth babe,’ he mocks me with yet another smirk. I slid down to the ground and can’t look at Jai anymore. ‘Soon she will be mine and there is nothing you can do about it,’ Jai laughs at me and then walks away.

I wait till he is out of sight and that’s when I break down. I don’t care that I have a dance performance or that I have to do the opening for the dance performances. I don’t care that I’m crying in the hallway and that literally everyone can see me. All I care about is that Jai just confirmed my biggest fears and insecurities. I’ve always known that I would never have a chance with Ariana. She is way out of my league and I can’t even have a conversation with her without stuttering or blushing. I have never stopped loving her or tried loving someone else because deep down I still hope I will have a chance with her. Hearing Jai say the awful hard truth in my face made me realize how hopeless I actually am.

I have been crushing on a girl for four years now and she only noticed me now because of my bracelet. Now that I have my bracelet back, she will go straight back to ignoring me. I cry even harder just thinking about it. ‘Babe!’ I hear someone yell. I cringe thinking it’s Jai to make things even worse but they sit down next to me. ‘Babe, what happened?’ A deep voice asks worried. I look up and I see a worried Harry looking at me. I just look at him, my breath hitches and I shake my head at him.

I wrap my arms around him and I continue sobbing into his neck. Ugly sobs leave my mouth and Harry rubs soothing circles on my back. ‘Let it all out, Zayn. Let it out,’ Harry soothes. ‘J-J-Jai h-h-happened,’ I choke out. I feel his arms tighten around me and a growl escapes his mouth. ‘H-He w-w-would m-make me a n-nobody a-a-again to A-A-Ariana, s-so h-he c-c-could h-have her all to h-himself,’ I manage to sob out. ‘OVER MY DEAD BODY!’ Harry yells.
