Ethan's POV
"Remember to smile ." Mum said as she adjusted my tuxedo. They know I hate suits and large gatherings but hey 'what's the use of our son's birthday if not for broadening our business platforms.'
From the corner of my eye I could see some of the guests arriving. I mentally prepared myself for questions like 1)when are you taking over the family business 2) is your brother planning to come back from London 3) what do you think of my daughter. Nothing is more annoying than parents trying to play Dr.Cupid.
I excused myself and took the back door to the garden. I could have my peace of mind here plus I could see when my friends arrive. Jack and Luke arrived with their clingy girlfriends. I still wonder how Luke has a girlfriend because he's always playing around. We sat at the patio having champagne and talking about different stuff. Luke with his dark humor and Jack with his his past stories, I almost forgot Cam wasn't here.
"Have you guys talked to Cam?"
"No dude, shouldn't she be here already?" Luke asked as I checked my phone partly to see if Cam had texted and if Olivia had a change of plans.
"Talk of the angel," Jack drummed on the table. Looking up I saw Cam. She had a long flowing white dress that had a slit on her right side exposing her thigh. I stood up to hug her and of course compliment her. Just then, dad came asking me to go mingle with other guests. I looked over to my friends. Luke had his tongue in his girl's throat and Jack just shrugged. Cam laced her fingers into mine and we left together. She knew I hated talking to my parent's business associates and went to get us some drinks to buzz me up.
As I was talking to a guy I knew nothing about, I saw Olivia walk in. I excused myself.
"Hey Liv," I said stretching my arms to hug her.
"Hey you. Happy 23rd." She replied as she squeezed me into her arms. "And before you ask Khloe is in the parking lot. She can't seem to find a spot for her car but I couldn't resist the champagne any longer." She tapped my cheek then left probably to go find a drink.
For some reason I was anticipating for Khloe. My eyes were fixed on the door.
"Are we waiting for someone?" Cam asked offering me a drink.
"Umm...yeah . Remember the girl you helped at My Mitchelle? She's my friend's friend so I invited her ."
"Cool." She placed her drink on one of the tables and left.
Am I supposed to follow her? We still have the argument we had previously causing tension and now this? Maybe am just imagining she's angry. What's there to be angry about anyways? I could tell she wanted us to talk out the argument we had last time but it wasn't the right time. You can never know with emotions. The tiny things blow out of proportion.
"Having a bad time or you never wrote a birthday speech. So which is it?" My thoughts had been broken by........Khloe.
"Hi." I said putting my hands in my pockets and shifting my weight to my heels then to my toes.

She was smiling, her cheeks displaying the dimples she had. I could smell her vanilla perfume . The red almost maroon dress she was wearing hugged her small figure and the heels she wore accentuated her legs. Her lips were the same color as her dress making her teeth eminent.
"Sorry we were late. The traffic was so bad today." She said getting a drink from a waiter. She squinted after taking a sip of the whiskey.
"It's ok. You didn't miss anything anyway." I replied.
Everyone's attention was directed to my dad hitting a champagne glass lightly with a fork. People gathered in the living room. After a long speech saying how much he was proud of me , I had to say something.
"Thank you everyone for coming and I hope you enjoyed yourselves." I raised a glass for a toast to many more years and that was all.
Some people were leaving and others still engaged in small talk. Jack, Luke and Olivia had joined Khloe. They were shaking hands so I guess Olivia introduced them to Khloe. I pulled Cam from a conversation because she was obviously bored judging by her facial expressions.
"Am Cam." She stretched out her hand to Khloe.
"Hey. Khloe. Nice to meet you officially. Thanks for saving my ass at the store. "She let out a chuckle as she rummaged through her purse.
She hit her forehead with her palm.
"Bad habit I guess. I only have my credit and debit cards here." Khloe said.
"Am not expecting a refund. Think of it as my treat." Cam said.
I saw the uncertainty in Khloe's face but Cam tapped her on the shoulder for assurance and the three of us took a seat. There was cake and drinks in front of everyone apart from Khloe. She was having shrimps and baked potatoes.
"We should leave now Ethan. It's 11pm." Luke said.
We had plans that after this party we would go out as a friends group and have our own fun. They arranged everything, I wasn't told where we would be going and what we would be doing.
Olivia wanted to come but Khloe persuaded her not to for some reason. She wished me happy birthday once more before asking Cam to help her get drunk Olivia to the car. I wanted to help but felt that it would be inappropriate so I just let them do their thing.
I headed upstairs to change into some comfortable clothes before leaving with my friends, their girlfriends and Cam.
Nothing major happened in the party but wherever we were going I was sure would be insane. This was a crazy lot.
