A blue blur dashed through the forest, the wind blowing through his quills and rustling his bandana. The blue blur was Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic ran over the cobblestone path through the unnamed village as he entered the beach where he came to a stop at a certain workshop. He walked through the wooden door.
A yellow fox was tinkering with a pink toaster. The fox had a tool belt on and looked very much like a pilot with his goggles on top of his head. Those goggles, however, were on his eyes at the moment to prevent any metal from kicking up into them. "Hey Tails." Sonic waved as he closed the door behind him and dashed over to the fox.
Tails flipped around, lifting his goggles up to the top of his head. "Sonic! You're back!" He shouted excitedly, running over toward him. Then his tone grew serious. "I was worried sick when I didn't see you this morning! You didn't even leave a note!"
"Relax," Sonic stated, patting Tails softly on the back. "I just went out for a run."
"Where?" Tails grabbed the pink toaster and screwed a bolt in.
"To one of those ancient temples in the forest."
Tails dropped his wrench and slapped a hand on his forehead. "Why do you keep going there? You know those places are booby trapped. You could've gotten hurt...or worse killed!" Tails continued to crank the bolt into place before grabbing a piece of bread out and sticking it into the pink machine.
Sonic stood next to Tails and casually leaned on the workbench. "Well, the deadliest thing aren't the traps but the trees. I mean seriously, it's like they jump out at you. Those things will be the death of me."
Tails sighed a little. "Trees don't just jump out at you. It's your own fault if you trip on a limb."
"Oh, meant that one of the traps in the temple were trees trying to grab me." Sonic explained. "I'm lucky I'm the fastest thing alive. I was able to make it in and out of that temple with little to no problem."
Ever since a few days ago, Sonic had run over to one of the temples every morning. It's hard for him to explain but it was like he knew the place. The temples themselves were fascinating in their own way however the spikes, closing walls, clingy trees, and rocks trying to crush him kinda took him out of the fascination. He always found himself heading back though.
Toast popped up, out of the toaster. Tails let out a little "yes!" at his small victory before turning back to Sonic. "I don't get you sometimes." He shook his head in dismay. "Why don't you take me with you one time, you know, just to make sure you don't do anything stupid?"
Sonic shrugged. "I've never done anything stupid in my life!" Tails gave him a knowing look. "Okay, maybe that one time when I broke your wall because I spindashed in the house, but other than that, I haven't."
Sonic continued with his original topic. "I like running in and out of the temple, keeps me off of the traps. You would either get caught in one or slow me down."
"How reassuring." Tails muttered, sighing deeply before picking up the toaster again.
Sonic pushed off from the table. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I got another temple to find." He walked over toward the door. Tails just shook his head as he put the toaster down.
Suddenly, the door opened. Sonic was whacked by it and slammed into the wall. "Ow!" He groaned, rubbing his head where the door had whacked.
A pink hedgehog had come through the door. Her pink dress came down to her knees and she had purple wraps around her arms, dress, and legs. She walked in with confident strides as she went over to Tails. She glanced over at the table. "My toaster! Thank you for getting it to work again Tails. I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't have my morning toast." She stated as she grabbed it.
