This chapter contains mild spoilers from the Mugen Train Movie.
I move from cart to cart quickly slaying the meaty arms of the unknown demon that had taken over the train. I used my breathing forms to a maximum capacity. My lungs were starting to hurt, they ached more and more as each hit was dealt with a technique. My mother's breathing technique was fatal in some cases. If you weren't taught how to control your breathing in each form you would probably be dead from either organ failure or a heart attack. My breathing was getting heavy, my attacks were getting weaker. I suddenly get grabbed by the leg by a meaty arm. I look down and clutch my sword, but I flinch from the pain. Not long after a bright red flame appeared as it cut open the weird-looking arm. I pull my leg and run up to Kyojuro.
"Attacking these innocent people while I'm taking a nap? How rude of you!"
He says before going back in to attack. The situation in this cart was under control currently. He turns to me and looks me straight into the eyes.
"Chō! Are you alright?"
"I'm fine...Just shaken up."
"Make sure you keep yourself stable, we need to take care of these 5 carts. We need to cooperate, alright? Call out for me if you need help!"
He smiles warmly, I nod and he dashed towards the other carts. I take a deep breath and grip my sword tightly. I close my eyes and regulate my breathing. I inhale. Exhale. A wave of energy rushed from my head to my toes. It sent shivers down my back from the excitement.
"Breath of Harmony, 9th Form: Spiral Abyss."I open my eyes and launch myself through the carts, making sure I cut open as many membranes as I can. I didn't pay much attention, leading me to smash myself into a door. I fell headfirst with my legs in the air. I groan in pain and try to get up. I grab my sword and sigh. I get back to defending the people from the demon. I keep cutting through the same arms but they kept regenerating. I wonder how Kyojuro was doing. I reach into my pouch and look for my glass vial. I take it in my hand and open it. The smell emitting from it made the surrounding membranes of the demon disintegrate, it smelt like burnt flesh and of course blood. I furrow my eyebrows and start throwing the blood around in the direction of the demon. I run through the 2 carts I was defending with the vial in my hand, throwing my saved up blood at the demons.
The meaty membranes dissolve slowly as they wiggle around. It was a gross sight. It seemed to work though. What were the boys up to? We're they ok? They should be fine on their own. After a few minutes of defending the carts, I hear a faint rumble. The train goes quiet and the demon's hands start to slow down and fall to the ground. With that, a loud thud echoed throughout the whole train. I look further into it and see the whole train turning over and around. Before I could say anything I feel Kyojuro run up behind me and grabbing me by the waist.
"Hold tight!"
I turn to face him and grab onto his uniform and hold tight. With a few slick moves he hit the cart in all places, trying to keep it stable enough so the people wouldn't get hurt. I close my eyes and flinch. The impact of the train and the ground caused it to violently shake, making Kyojuro lose his balance and falling on his back. I open my eyes to a dusty and wrecked cart. I get up and help Kyojuro up as well.
"Is Tanjiro okay? Are the boys ok?"
"Trust me, I'm sure they'll be fine. Let's get out."We open up a window and escort the people from the last few carts. I hurry along and keep my serum pouch close to me. I look around and get followed by Kyojuro. We find Tanjiro and the ground with Inosuke.
"Ah! Boys!"
I run over and gasp as I see Tanjiro bleeding out from his stomach. Kyojuro comes over and sits above him. I sit back and watch, ready to patch him up whenever he confirmed it was ok.He pokes his forehead.
"Focus! Stop the bleeding. Use your breathing to focus on every broken blood vessel."
Tanjiro groans in pain as he tries to stop the bleeding just as Kyojuro said.
"Wouldn't it be easier to bandage him up and apply pressure?"
I ask. He looks over to me and shakes his head.
"It's important for him to learn this technique in case you're not at his disposal to help him."
He smiles and looks back down at Tanjiro.
"Yep, that's it! Good."He looks back over to me and nods giving me the ok sign so I can bandage him up.
"May I?"
I ask as I hover over his uniform. He nods in pain as I open up his uniform and get my serums out.
"I guess this is like a thank you for, y'know, what happened in the forest."
I look at him and slightly smile as I apply my serums to his wound. He groans and flicnes.
"It's normal for it to hurt. It's coagulating your wound."
I reassure him as I put pressure over it with a sterilized cloth. I wrap him up with some bandages and button his uniform back up.
"This doesn't mean you can freely move yet. Stay down so your wound doesn't open back up and let the serums do their job, okay?"
I pet his head and smile. He nods and lets his head back on the ground. I get back up and look over at Kyojuro.
"I have to report back to the Corps that this mission was a success."
He crosses his arms and looks back at me. I look away.
"And what about me?"
"You could come with me. We can talk it out with Master."
He responds.
"It feels morally wrong."
"That's because you were taught to believe that. Do what you think is right."
He comes closer to me and puts his hand on my shoulder, reassuring me.
"You're too nice."
I smile and chuckle. This peaceful silence wasn't gonna last forever. We hear a loud booming noise coming from the fog. It was pitch dark after all. I squint my eyes as I pull Kyojuro back. Soon enough a demon emerged from the dark and charged at Tanjiro. My eyes widen, I grab my sword and swing violently in his direction.
"Breath of Harmony, 7th form: Pinwheel!"
I slice through his arm and sit next to Tanjiro, shielding him.
"Stay there."
I look down at him and reassure him.
"Attacking the vulnerable. How scummy."
Kyojuro takes his sword out and stands his ground.
"Nice sword, girlie."
The demon regenerates his arm and smiles creepily.
"Besides, I thought he'd get in the way between you and me. You and I have something to talk about!"
"It's our first time meeting, but I already hate you."
"Is that so? I really hate weak humans as well. When I look at weaklings I just feel disgusted."
"It looks like you and I have different moral values in regards to things."
"I see. Then I have a wonderful proposal for you and that woman."
"How about you become a demon?"
I was taken aback. I got up from Tanjiro and grit my teeth.
"No way."
"Not a chance."
Both me and Kyojuro respond.
"I know your strength just by looking at you. You, you're a pillar right?"
He asks looking over to Kyojuro. He then looks straight at me.
"And you. You're strange. Strangely strong."
I stand my ground and grip my sword tighter.
"You both are insanely strong. We're close to getting into supreme territory!"
"I am the Flame Hashira, Rengoku Kyojuro. And this is Chō Hikari."
"And I'm Akaza."
He glared straight into our eyes.
"Now let me tell you why you both aren't into that supreme territory. Because you both are humans."
He points at us."Become demons. If you do, you two can become even stronger."
Kyojuro steps forward and sighs.
"Growing old, finding love, and dying is the beauty of the fleeting creature called a human being. Because they grow old, because they die. They are tremendously lovable and precious. What they call strength isn't a word that is used in regards to the body. This boy isn't weak, don't insult him."
I clench my jaw and step closer."Humans aren't weak. They're flesh and blood. They love, they hate, they feel sad or happy. They have emotions. Unlike you monsters! You're the type of disgusting wusses that like to toy with people you consider weak. People like that are my sister. You're nothing but a demon. You are at an advantage, but that won't stop me from killing you. I'm not weak, neither is Tanjiro. Stay in your place."
I spit at him angrily, Kyojuro looks over at Tanjiro and furrows his eyebrows.
"I'll say it over and over again. You and I have different moral values. No matter what kind of motivation I have, or no matter what Chō went through, we will not become demons."
"I see."
Akaza squints his eyes, looking quite disappointed. He then uses his Blood Demon Art, getting into position as a snowflake symbol shows up underneath him. I gasp and get ready to attack. Kyojuro stands his ground."If you won't become a demon, then I'll kill you both!"
