third-person pov:
Denali was sitting on a chair next to the window looking down at the streets and the cars that were passing by while Olivia was sitting on the floor with Symone behind her on the bed styling her hair.

"Ouch," Olivia whined at Symone that accidentally burned her with the curling iron.
"Sorry." Symone apologized running her fingertips through the girl's curls trying to remove a few knots.

"You've been quiet this whole time Denali." Olivia pointed out but Denali didn't even bother to turn her head and look at her friends.
"Yeah, you've been staring out of that window for the past 30 minutes. What's on your mind?" Symone asked wanting to know what is going on in her friend's head.
"Uhh nothing... nothing is on my mind." the brunette rambled keeping her eyes fixed on the street.
"Are you sure? Because you have been acting kind of weird these last two days in school." Symone explained setting down the curling iron on her desk.
"Yeah, I'm sure everything is fine," Denali said forcing a small smile.
"Okay if you say so, my love. Just know that you can always talk to us whenever something is going on." Olivia told her putting her hand over Denali's and squeezing it lightly.
Denali looked up at her and smiled she loved her friends dearly and they always care for her. She knows that the two will always be there for her and she appreciates it very much.
"I love you guys... so much," she said.
Symone turned around from her desk and walked over to the two girls.
"Awww we love you too." the girls said. Denali snaked her arms around the two pushing them all together and they threw their arms around the girl too.
They stayed in that hug for a while until Denali pulled away.
"Now let's go to that party." the brunette almost shouted pulling the two towards the door by their arms.

They all got in the car and Symone blasted their favorite songs. They sang along happily while also bopping to the music.

After a 15 minute long drive, they pulled up to a large grey house.
They walked in and the party was already in full swing. They pushed through a crowd of sweaty people that were dancing in the living room.

"Guys I'm gonna go take a breather. I need fresh air." Denali told her friends after they have been there for a while and it was all starting to get overwhelming for the brunette.
"Okay. We can come with you." Olivia offered and Symone nodded placing her drink on the table next to her.
"No no, it's okay. You guys have fun here. I would like to be alone but thanks." the brunette said and walked towards the front door.

She opened the door and she felt herself be able to breathe again. The cold fresh air grazing over her skin as the wind blew through her long hair.
She walked to the back of the garden trying to find some privacy.

The darkness of the night made her almost stumble over something that she hasn't seen.
As she looked down to see what's on the ground she gasped lightly.
Someone was lying on the grass with their arms thrown over their torso and their eyes fixed on the sky above them.

As Denali took a closer look she recognized who it was. Rosé.

Her blonde soft-looking wavy hair was spread on the grass while quiet sniffs could be heard from her.

She looked so peaceful yet so broken.

Denali cleared her throat trying to get the girl's attention making her flinch and her eyes shoot towards the brunette.
Rosé realized who it was and the corners of her mouth lifted into the smallest smile.

"Sorry, did I scare you?" Denali spoke quietly while sitting down next to the girl.
"Yeah... kinda." Rosé chuckled through the tears while wiping them off with the sleeves of her sweater.

"What are you doing back here on the ground, blondie?" Denali asked leaning back to lay next to the smaller girl.
"I just needed to be alone I guess... let out these tears," she mumbled awkwardly.
Denali just nodded in response while looking up at the sky.

"I'm sorry..." the blonde spoke after a moment of silence. The brunette turned her head and made eye contact with Rosé furrowing an eyebrow.
"... for what happened in the bathroom the other day." she apologized while another tear ran down her cheeks.

"It's okay... I know why you did it." the brunette explained removing her eyes from Rosé again.
"Thank you." the smaller girl whispered also looking up at the stars.

"I just feel stupid..." Rosé continued while shaking her head.
"Why do you feel stupid?" Denali questioned.
"You are being so nice to me and this is how I treat you. You don't deserve this. You shouldn't be wasting your time on me." the blonde stated wiping away another tear with her thumb.
"Hey don't say that. I'm not wasting any time and I am happy if I can help.
I would just like to know what's going on so I can help you even more." Denali explained trying to get the girl to open up about her situation.
Rosé inhaled deeply.
"It's just... I feel very lonely. Madison and Caitlyn are not my real friends. They're always mean to me and judge me on whatever I do. They are very toxic. And my parents... I love them very much but they are never at home. The last time I spoke to them I think was a few months ago. And I just don't feel like I have anybody to turn to. I'm all by myself. But I feel stupid for being so dramatic because some people have it much worse than me and I am out here crying about my life. I have everything that some people dream of. Rich parents, enough to drink and to eat, and I'm one of the most popular girls at school. But it just doesn't feel right." Rosé ranted as her eyes started to get teary again.
"You are right that some people have it worse than you but your feelings are still valid. You are allowed to have emotions." Denali reassured her slowly running her hand over the smaller girl's arm.

"And you have me," Denali said barely above a whisper.
"Huh?" Rosé asked as she removed her hands from her eyes to look at the brunette.
"I am here for you... you can always talk to me if you need something." the taller girl offered and Rosé smiled at her sweetly.
"Can I hug you?" the blonde asked shyly.
"Of course," Denali replied  stretching out her arms and embraced the smaller girl while Rosé rested her head on Denali's warm chest as she sniffed softly.

"You're really comfortable." Rosé mumbled.
"I don't know if that's supposed to be a compliment." Denali chuckled at the girl.
"Well, your future boyfriend will be very lucky." Rosé giggled.
"Girlfriend." Denali corrected her and Rosé suddenly tensed up as she felt butterflies in her stomach.
"Right..." Rosé giggled as she felt her cheeks start to burn.

Rosé pulled away to lay down next to the brunette again. They kept talking about some things and Denali gave Rosé her phone number when they heard a shout in the distance.
"Denali?" she heard what sounded like Symone. She quickly sat up to see her walking around the garden.
"Oh shit. I have to go my friends are calling me. I'll see you in school." the brunette explained.
"Okay see you." Rosé smiled and Denali got up starting to leave.
"Wait!" the blonde shouted after her and Denali stopped walking to turn around and look at the girl again.
"Thank you... for tonight. You really made me feel better." Rosé explained fumbling with the sleeves of her sweater and Denali smiled at how cute the girl was when she started to get all shy.
"Always." the taller girl winked leaving Rosé slightly flustered as she turned around again and approached her two friends.

"Is it okay if we leave now? We're both pretty tired." Symone explained as Olivia nodded.
"Yes of course. Are you drunk?" Denali asked the two.
"Yeah, a little," Olivia admitted.
"Okay well then give me the keys. I'll drive." the brunette offered taking the car keys out of Symone's hand and approaching the car.
They all sat down and buckled in their seatbelts as Denali slowly pulled out of the driveway.

"What were you doing back there the entire time?" Olivia asked slightly slurring her words since she was a little drunker than Symone.
"Nothing. I was just lying down looking at the stars." the Latina shrugged while turning the steering wheel.
"Alone?" Symone questioned slightly tilting her head.
"Yep." Denali lied. She felt bad for not telling her friends the truth but she remembered what Rosé had told her the first time they had talked and Denali doesn't break her promises even if it's only her two best friends that she would trust her life with.

They were all silent and the brunette felt herself start smiling as her thoughts started to drift off to the blonde.
She felt a special connection to her.
Denali was happy that she could make her feel better. On the other hand she felt stupid about slowly starting to catch feelings for the girl since she is most definitely straight and even if she wasn't Denali probably isn't her type she still couldn't help but feel warm inside when the girl was laying on top of her with her head buried into her chest while the brunette softly ran her fingers through the blonde's hair.
