third-person pov:
Denali was sat in class with her eyes fixed on the piece of paper that was on her desk while she was taking notes and listening to what the teacher was saying.
She finished her sentence and looked up at the teacher while leaning back into her chair just as he announced that they will be doing a group project and that he will assign the pairs.
Almost everybody groaned because they didn't get to choose their own partner but Denali wasn't that bothered by it.

He started reading out the names. Denali was patiently waiting for her to get assigned a partner while she fidgeted with the pen she had in her hand.
"Denali and..." the teacher began "Rosé." he stated.
The brunette felt a small smile forming on her face as she turned her head over to the Scottish girl just to see that she was already looking at her while her head rested in the palm of her hand.
When Rosé felt Denali's eyes on her she quickly looked in another direction while her cheeks started to get heated.

Denali chuckled and turned her head around again.
"Since when are you not complaining about having to work with one of the popular girls?" Olivia asked barely above a whisper so they don't get yelled at by their teacher for being too loud.
"Also you kinda look happy about it," Symone added.
"Well I'm not exactly pleased with it but at least I am not paired up with Madison or Caitlyn. And Rosé is probably not as bad as you guys think she is." Denali explained not even bothering to look at her friends and keeping her eyes fixed on the teacher that was still assigning pairs.
Olivia raised her eyebrow at Symone and she just shrugged while being just as confused.

The bell rang and everybody got up and left the classroom except for Denali that was still putting her books in her bag.
Just as she stood up from her chair she heard someone talk.
"Hey." They said softly as Denali flinched slightly turning her head just to see Rosé standing behind her with a shy smile plastered to her face and her hands intertwined in front of her.
"Sorry, did I scare you?" she asked.
"A little but It's fine I just didn't see you there." Denali chuckled throwing her bag over her shoulder.
"Since we are paired up I just wanted to ask you if you maybe want to come over to my house so we can do our work there." the blonde suggested.
"Uh yeah. That sounds great. Do you want to do that today or when?" the brunette questioned taking a few steps towards the smaller girl.
"Yeah, sure I'm free today. How about we meet in the parking lot after school and I'll drive us to my house." Rosé answered and Denali nodded with a small smile resting on her lips.
"Yup sounds good. I'll see you then." Denali said as she passed the smaller girl and walked out of the classroom.
"Bye." Rosé muttered after the other girl had already left.

Rosé was standing in the school parking lot leaned up against her car her eyes fixed on the entrance of the school.
She was currently waiting for Denali to arrive so they could drive over to her house and do their project.
The doors were pushed open and there she was. Her dark brown long hair shining in the sun while she pushed the strands that were in front of her face due to wind behind her ears.
She walked towards the cars at a fast pace and when she was met with the sight of Rosé the corners of her lips lifted into a warm smile and so did Rosé's.
Rosé was so mesmerized by the girl that she didn't even notice what was being said to her.
"Hello? Earth to Rosé." Denali said tilting her head.
"Oh uh hi." the blonde said shyly looking down while softly scratching her arm.
"Sorry I zoned out for a second there." she giggled awkwardly as Denali chuckled and walked over to the other side of the car to get in the passenger seat.
Rosé unlocked the car and they both sat down.

The two girls were both silent for the first half of their ride neither of them knowing what to say until one of them decided to speak up.
"How are you?" Denali asked.
"I'm good. Now that we aren't in school anymore," she answered.
"Why is that?" the brunette questioned.
"I just hate that place... and it's not because of the teachers and the studying. It's just tiring pretending to be this person that I am not." the blonde shook her head slightly.
"Then stop pretending," Denali suggested and Rosé just scoffed.
"It's not that easy. If I stop being like this Madison and Caitlyn will not want to be my friends anymore." The smaller girl explained.
"I thought you don't like them anyways. Just stop being their friend. You have me now. You don't need them." Denali reassured her.
"Thank you..." Rosé said.
"...But then everybody will know," she added in a quiet tone.
"Everybody will know what?" Denali tilted her head in confusion.
"Oh uh forget it." the thought of it made Rosé's face drop and she regretted mentioning the last part.
"You can tell me. Only if you are comfortable with telling me of course." the brunette offered carefully not trying to overstep anything.
"I trust you. I really do but I just can't tell you this. Maybe one day." Rosé said trying not to let the tears escape her eyes.
"It's fine don't even worry about it," Denali explained.
"Gosh, I'm so sorry that every time you talk to me I start crying." the smaller girl giggled awkwardly as she pulled up in her driveway.
"No need to apologize. I know that you don't have anybody to talk about your feelings with and I'm really happy that you are letting your walls down with me."
Rosé unbuckled her seatbelt and threw herself into Denali's arms. The taller girl was surprised by it but eventually embraced the smaller girl and held her close to her chest.
Neither of them wanted to let go of each other. Ever. It felt right. Like it was meant to be.
"Thank you." Rosé mumbled into Denali's shoulder.
The brunette just smiled and ran her fingertips through the blonde's hair.
And for the first time in a while Rosé actually felt loved and cared for.
