Evelyn's POV-

The next morning, I got up and painted for awhile before going over to the Horan's. I didn't feel like being around Niall so early in the morning because, well, first of all, I wasn't in the mood, and second of all, his dad had told me he was grumpy in the mornings.

I was already feeling slightly grumpy, but the art was making it better and getting my mind off the anxiety I had for possibly no reason at all.

I suddenly heard my sister yelling downstairs, and that's what tore me away from my world of painting back into the real world again.

Confused, I got up and ran downstairs. I hadn't heard anyone yell in awhile, and it would be a lie to say I wasn't a little bit concerned.

"What going on?" I asked, stepping into the kitchen.

Both my dad and Beth were standing there, my dad looking exhausted with a cup of coffee in his hand.

"Beth is upset because of rejection" my dad explained.

"You? Rejection?" I raised an eyebrow at her, surprised that she was that upset about something as small as getting turned down by someone.

"It's not just rejection" she threw up her arms dramatically. "Evelyn"

"Yes?"

"Niall won't go out with me"

"You asked out Niall?" I scoffed.

"Yes!" she looked pretty pissed off.

"Well, what did he say?" I wondered, thinking the whole thing was pretty hilarious.

"I asked him if he wanted to go out and get food, or something, and he was all like 'No, I'm not really into dating' and I was like 'I can get you into it' and he told me I sounded creepy!"

I burst out laughing, being able to clearly play the image out in my head. "You can't be surprised, he told us the day he moved in that he isn't into dating"

"I know, but still!" she animatedly threw her arms up into the air.

"I'm sorry, Honey" my dad didn't sound super serious about it. "But you've got a hundred other guys at your heels"

"I don't care, I wanted him" she whined.

"Want me to talk to him for you when I head over?" I asked, trying to be somewhat empathetic.

"Could you?" her whole mood changed.

"Yeah, sure, why not?" I smiled. "I was about to head over there, anyways"

"Thanks" she beamed.

"Yup"

"Tell me what he says!"

"I will, don't worry" rolling my eyes, I walked over to the door and slid on my white sneakers, then went outside to walk across the yards to the Horan's.

Once I was on the porch, I extended my finger to press the doorbell.

"It's open!" I could hear Bobby call.

I let myself in, and saw that he and Niall were standing in the living room, spreading out plastic on the floor so I wouldn't ruin the hardwood.

"Hey" I greeted.

"We have everything you need, right here" Mr. Horan gestured to the can of grey paint and a paint roller, which was sitting in a red pan. "Try not to get it on the trim"

"I won't" I assured him, pulling my hair up into a ponytail.

"Do you take Venmo?" he asked.

"I do, but you don't have to worry about it until after I'm done" I shrugged.
