Evelyn's POV-
The next day was the last day I needed to finish painting the inside of the Horan's house. Not going to lie, I didn't really know what to expect after yesterday. It genuinely felt like he was going to kiss me when he left, but he didn't. Also, I still didn't really know if he did have feelings for me. After the paper airplanes and our pillow fight, it seemed like he did. But he could've just been being friendly.
I walked over to their house and Bobby was the one who let me in.
"The room's you've done look really good" he complimented.
"Thank you" I smiled.
"Keep it up" he gave me a single nod. "You finishing the upstairs today?"
"Yeah" I answered.
"Have fun" he walked towards the kitchen, probably to drink his coffee or something, but before he was completely gone, he turned around once more. "Your dad and I were talking about doing a campfire in the yard"
"Really?" my eyebrows shot up. "When?"
"We were thinking tomorrow" he replied.
"Sounds good to me"
"Good" he then finally walked out.
Cheerily, I walked up the stairs. I saw that Niall's bedroom door was closed, so he was probably still asleep, or something.
Not bothering to knock, I immediately got to work on the upstairs living area. The day was hot and I didn't think they had the AC on, so I was perspiring a little. It was definitely different painting a house and painting on canvas. I felt like I had more control over canvases than a job I was expected to do. It was beginning to feel more like a chore than something actually fun.
Out of the 3 days I'd already worked, yesterday had certainly been the least boring. When someone was there keeping me company, it was slightly distracting, but also diluted the tedium of my tasks.
Maybe an hour in, I heard a door open and looked up from where I stood, seeing Niall exiting out of his room.
"Good morning, Sleepyhead"
"Actually, I wasn't sleeping" he collapsed onto one of the cushy chairs and crossed his arms.
"What were you up to, then?" I asked curiously rolling the cream colored paint onto the wall.
"Is it your business?"
"No" I glanced back over at him, but saw the smirk on his face, indicating he was just joking. "Actually, I don't want to know anyways."
"Ouch" his eyebrows shot up.
"Well, if you don't want to tell me then don't" I continued to work.
"I was writing"
"About..?"
"So many questions" he shook his head. "A very inquisitive one you are"
"Well, you are an interesting person"
"Am I?"
"Yep"
He got up and walked over to me, careful not to step in a tiny bit of wet paint I'd spilled on the plastic sheet. "I was writing about a girl"
"A girl?" I repeated.
"A girl" he said simply, bending down and sticking his hand in the paint.
Confused, I looked down at him, his eyes gazing into mine and sparkling in the light of the sun that was coming through the window.
