Jane's POV

"Have you seen my charger?" Daren asked me peeking through the doorway of the kitchen.

"Nope." I replied finishing up dinner.

"Jason I'm gonna need to borrow your charger again." He said leaving the kitchen. I filled three plates with mashed potatoes and chicken with salad, theirs more than mine seeing I wasn't that hungry.

I grabbed the plates and put them on the dining room table where Jason was already sitting with a huge grin on his face like a little child. I put the plate in front of him, it took him no time to begin stuffing his face.

"At least someone likes my cooking." I state as Daren walks into the dining room. He walks up to me and puts a hand on my back.

He puts his hand over his chest to fake hurt. "I'll be fooled. I love your cooking, and I will always be your cookings number one fan." He stated as he sat down in front of his plate.

Jason scuffed. "I beat you to it long time ago." Talking with his mouth half stuffed smiling up at me, his cheeks puffed out from the food that is currently occupying the space in his mouth. I let out a laugh at my husbands brother.

"So Jason , what brings you to our home?" I asked taking my fork and putting some mashed potatoes into my mouth.

"The wife is away to visit family in Australia with the kids and I didn't want to stay home alone." He says drinking some of the soda in his cup.

"Why didn't you go with them?" Daren asked.

Jason's eyes widen in disbelief. "Me spend the weekend with Val's parents." Gasping as if it was the most obscured thing to ever happen in the history of history. "You have better chances of convincing me to cut off one of my hands and swim in a tank of hungry sharks than get me to spend a weekend with her parents."

"They can't be that bad?" I tried defending the parents of his dearly beloved wife.

"Oh, but they are." He interjected. "One night they decided to come over for a visit, unexpectedly might I add, and stayed over for two weeks. It was like taking a trip to my own personal hell. Every little thing I did was either wrong or disapproved of. The way I was raising my daughter, the way I cooked, they probably didn't like the way I pissed in the toilet. It was like they were plotting to destroy me or something."

Daren sighed laughing a little at the little story. "I bet your just over reacting."

"I'm not. They have it out for me. This one time they hired a spy to freaking follow me around where ever I go. They tapped into my phone to listen in to all my conversations and read my messages. They are gathering information so that if the time ever comes that their daughter ever went missing or dies they have enough evidence to convict me for the cause of her death before anyone has the chance to blink."

I shook my hand at what I was hearing. "You don't know that." I said taking a bite of the salad that was on my plate.

"I do. They told me that. I'm scared of them." Daren and I laughed brushing off the subject. The rest of the dinner was spent Talking about random things that came to mind. It was nice to have some family visit. We live so far from them now and it's quite hard to visit them now.

I gathered all of the dishes and put them in the sink. After washing the dishes I began to put away the leftover food in the fridge and cleaned up the mess I made. I made my way back into the living room where Daren and his brother sat watching football with beer in their hands.

"I'm calling it a night. See you in the morning." I said. They both nodded their head still facing the tv. They both shot up with their hands in the air shouting 'yeah' cheering on whatever just happened. I'm not even sure they heard what I said a little while ago. I shook my head walking up the stairs to my bedroom.
