I don't know what's more haunting. What I'm feeling or the look on my sister's face as I talk. I tell her about everything. Dad, the dolls... everything that's happened with Matthew thus far. She asks about mom. For a moment, I'm confused as to why she's asking about her but I remember she must not know what happened.

"Mom is dead. She drunkenly drove herself off a cliff a year after your presumed death," I reply.

"I--No, that's not possible," she says. "I've been talking to dad about her after all these years. He told me they'd divorced."

I shake my head, sad. "Adrian lied. Mom has been dead for years now."

"I just don't understand why he'd lie," she says softly, bewildered.

"It's what he does best," I reply. "He lies."

It's a never-ending cycle. She shakes her head.

"Would you like to go for a walk on the beach?" she asks.

Oh.

"Sure," I reply.

We make our way towards the beach. It probably takes us about ten minutes to reach it. Not too far away from the crystalline waters is a white painted church. I've never been religious as one would expect from a latina but I am fascinated. Something is pulling me towards it but I remain to answer what Victoria is asking.
