"Mom?"

I kicked off my shoes by the foyer then placed my backpack over the coffee table along with the car keys. Striding towards the kitchen, I noticed foot-marks throughout the way, ending just at it's entrance. A frown marred my forehead when I got inside, only to find it empty.

Well, where is everybody?

I filled myself a glass of water, drinking its contents down in one big gulp. There was only one sound which resonated in the forceful silence of the placewater dripping out from the sink tap.

"Mom, dad, this isn't funny anymore. Come on out!" I yelled to nowhere and to no one in particular before laughing nervously. I assumed it was one of their silly pranks 'cause they never knew how to do one, which was why taking them too long to emerge out.

Right?

I felt my hair sticking onto my face and brushed them away when a series of 'plink' sound once again reached my ears. Not being able to cope up with it anymore, I reached out to the sink to fix it up.

"Hello sweetheart," I craned my neck with the speed of lightening that I feared it might get bruised later. As I took in the image of the person standing in front me, the glass slipped off of my hands and onto the floor, shattering into pieces.

"Y-You?" My forehead crinkled in fear, and my feet automatically began dragging me back with every step he took towards me. "How c-can yo-"

"Missed me?" My back hit the cold kitchen wall and I gulped, feeling every possible escape disappearing away from me.

He stopped prowling towards me and stood a few metres away, then smiled. Anyone watching him right now would tell how escalated he was, but one look from his eyes left my nerves shuddering in terror.

And then I did what I should've done before.

I ran.

'Too late' A thought crossed my mind.

He pulled me back by my nape before I could go any far, his hand pinning me against the wall. A dangerous look floated in his eyes and for a second, I forgot how to breathe altogether. His hand stroked my cheek before moving down to my jaw, and finally my neck.

Then he squeezed it.

I tried screaming but his death grip was making it hard for me to utter anything. I punched his chest repeatedly, but it felt like I was hitting a wall.

"You'll pay for what you did, brat. You're nothing but a disgusting piece of shit," He spat, his hands squeezing harder by every second, choking me furiously.

"Lea-eve m-me!" I gritted through my teeth feeling the pressure on my neck intensifying, and the floor beneath me fading.

"You deserve this." My hand reach out to him, but he appeared too far from my blurring vision. I heard mild shuffling of drawers, and a quick glimmer of something he was aiming at me.

A knife.

I screamed to the top of my lungs as my eyes fluttered open, my hand automatically reaching to my neck. My fingers traced the light bump of my scar there. I peered down. I was still in my night attire, my body still shaking, my breath coming out in pants.

Jeez, why again?

Tossing the duvet covers, I reached to the bedside table for my phone.
