"All the goods arrived last night, Capo. Straight from Sicily," Blade spoke from behind me as we walked down the long hallway of the dungeons. This was where most our syndicate activities, discussions and official meetings took place.
Finally.
In my trip to Sicily last month, I signed off an important deal with the black market dealers of the Cassini crime family in Italy. I swear I had a way worse negotiation with them than I ever had experienced with the toughest of my business world tycoons. But as long as everything sorted out itself without us getting at each other's throats, we were good.
"And where it is now?" I asked.
"Down the spiral staircase, boss," It was Blaze who answered.
I gave him a terse nod. "Lead the way."
On entering the lift, I saw Blaze hitting the twenty-fifth floor button-the top floor which led directly to my wing in the mansion. All the rest falling in between were purely for mob business, which was also the home for our entire organized crime family.
Taking my phone out of my flap pocket, I went through my morning schedule for the day. A frowned involuntary skimmed my face when I found no meetings listed for the afternoon. What the hell? I knew it was the last day of the week, but I was usually filled up with shitload of work even on weekends.
"Good morning sir," My secretary, Sophie, answered.
"I just checked my schedule. Wasn't there a German deal to seal off this afternoon?" I inquired sternly. That meeting was super-important for me to take care of. It was literally hanging around the corner for so long that I couldn't afford anymore of the delay. I could have easily secured it in a snap, but there was only thing stopping me throughout the way.
Richard Ismay.
From the beginning that man gave me off vibes about this deal; like he didn't actually want to get associated with our company in the first place. Why? He was himself looking for a major firm to shake hands with for this next project, and ended up knocking at our door. Even if he wasn't interested anymore, I was gonna make this work. By hook or crook, the creep would come begging on his kneels and surrender to me.
"Your mother canceled it, sir," Sophie explained in an even tone, and I pursed my lips.
"Did she tell you why?"
"I'm sorry sir, but she didn't. She just asked me to reschedule them for some other day."
Rachael was well-aware of how packed I was with work. But I couldn't possibly think of any specific reason why she'd do that."I thought you won't mind, sir," Sophie added, hesitant.
"I don't. Ask Zander to handle this meeting. We can't cancel it. Also..." I switched to my warning tone. "Do tell me if anything of such kind ever happens in the future, Ms Williams."
She cleared her throat nervously. "My apologies sir. I will."
Once we reached my floor, Blade headed for the door just opposite to my bedroom's. I purposely had the lift connected to my floor to make it easier for me to check up on everything. This way, I'd get to remain tight-knit with all my made men and hence, with our organized work.
