Y/n POV
"Obviously you've met Clint and Jeff" alby invites me inside the hut where I'm greeted by both boys. "Indeed I have" I smile, shaking their hands yet again."Look after her" alby tells them, shutting the medjack hut door behind him.
"Well, hopefully this job might be the one for you, we could always use more medical help" Clint tells me, handing me some equipment to get started.
"What do I do?" I ask, waiting patiently for his answer.
"Just give it a couple of minutes, you always have someone walking through the door with an injury, even if it's minor" Jeff laughs.
A few minutes go by before the door swings open, I snap my head back to see who it was..gally.
"Oh- i- I didn't realise you were in here, where's Clint? Jeff?" He asks me, looking around for them both.
"We're here gally, it's just y/n has to get some experience, so she'll be treating you" Clint tells him, sitting close by to observe.
Gally Huffs before making his way over to the bed in front of me, sitting down and waiting for me to start.
"So what is it that's wrong?" I ask, looking around noticing I couldn't see any obvious marks. He lifts his arm up, revealing a deep gash with blood spilling out constantly.
"What happened are you ok?" I gasp in shock at the wound, the fuck am I supposed to do with that?.
"Dont make a big fuss, it's fine, can you just stitch it please?" He begs, only meeting my eyes for a second before looking away. What was it with his attitude changing so much?.
I grab my equipment from the side of me, first cleaning the wound. Gally winces, his hand immediately goes for my thigh, grabbing it and digging his nails in profusely. I don't think he even realises as he hasn't looked at me the whole time.
The next part was going to be worse, I grab my needle, disinfecting it first and then tying the thread to the end.
I push the pin through, connecting to the other side of his skin. He lets out a loud yell,
"Shuck y/n, could you be a little more gentle" he groans, digging his nails in a little deeper, causing me to start to wince."Uh- sorry, I-" i wince again, being more gentle I push the needle through one last time, I seemed to have closed it up and stitched it pretty well.
"And finished" I smile, trying to distract myself from the pain coming from my thigh. Gally sighs, looking down at his gash and noticing how well it was stitched up, but also noticing how his hand was digging into my thigh.
He quickly moves it, looking up at me with an apologetic look, "sorry.. I- I didn't realise, I was just in pain, sorry y/n".
I shake my head at him, "it's fine hones-" he doesn't let me finish as he just storms out the door, "honestly fine.." I whisper to myself in disbelief.
"Well how did I do?" I ask Jeff, who was just staring at me along with Clint.
"You did fine, In fact you did amazing on your first time" he laughs to himself, patting me on the shoulder before collecting up my equipment to sterilise it for next use.
-
By nightfall I was rather exhausted, dinner time had already past, and most of the boys were heading to bed. I decided to go and chill by myself for a bit, finding a tall tower at the back of the glade near the deadheads and climbing to the top.I sit down at the front, dangling my feet off from the edge.
The sun had completely set by now, the sky was a dull grey colour, quite cloudy too. I sit quietly letting my thoughts take over before I was distracted by someone climbing up the ladder.
I jump back a bit, "hello? Who's there?" I call out, waiting for an answer.
"It's just me, gally?" He warns me, climbing to the top and sitting down next to me. "Why're you up here then?" He asks, staring at the sky in the distance.
"Just needed time to think I guess" I laugh nervously, twiddling with my thumbs. "What about you?" I say, looking up at him.
"Same if I'm honest, this is where I go when I need to clear my mind, it's peaceful" he replies, "it really is" I agree with him.
We sit there for a few minutes before the ground starts to shake and grumble in a familiar way I had felt before.
"I forgot to even ask.. what is that grumbling? Why are the walls moving?" I ask, watching as the ancient stone walls close, crashing into eachother.
"The maze changes its patterns every night, making it even more difficult for us to find a way out" Gally sighs, looking at me.
"How long have you been looking?" I say, not moving my gaze from the walls.
"About three years" he replies.
I look up at him In shock, "three years..?" I repeat back, unsure wether I had heard it right.
He just nods his head in reply. "Lights out everyone! Time for bed" alby's voice echoes throughout the glade.
"Need help getting down?" Gally offers me a hand down the ladder. "Yeah please" I laugh, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly as I watch him get down on the ground.
He holds out his arms, ready to catch me when I'm near the bottom. I climb down a little before Gally says, "jump I'll catch you".
He catches me, holding me for a second and looking at me like he was going too kiss me before putting me down on the ground.
My face goes bright red, did I really think he was actually going to kiss me?. I stand there awkwardly, not making any conversation.
I'm so glad it's dark and he can't see how embarrassed I am right now, "so.. we should- umm- probably go to bed" he stutters, walking off without me.
I pick up my pace to follow..
This was going to be awkward.
